Nice Juicer
I used an Omega 1000 for 7 years. The Omega would often get out of balance (you have to stop juicing, disassemble, clean and start over), has a small feed chute and at times would "spray" some juice from the spout.The Breville 800 has the following great features:Big feed chute. You can process 3 regular size carrots at once or three medium apples or oranges (stacked in the feed chute). No cutting needed. The chute is 3" in Dia and 7" tall.Disassembles quickly. No screws. Fits easily in the dishwasher.The pitcher included has a spout opening, so there's no overspray. Additionally, the lid is made to separate the foam from the juice.Never gets out of balance because it's and ejection style juicer. It still does a great job of extracting the majority of juice with the high rpm motor.Last, it looks very nice on the counter with the stainless steel construction.

I LOVE this juicer!! (so far...) Beats my Green Power juicer.
We just bought this juicer on Amazon, using the $25 discount and the free shipping. Made it the best price on the internet when we bought it first of December 2005. Before commenting on the juicer, let me tell you what we used before this juicer arrived.We have a top of the line Green Power juicer. If you know juicers, you know this is one of the best. We've been juicing with it on a daily basis for 10 years and it is still going strong. It has a high juice yield (dry pulp), can juice grasses and greens efficiently (wheatgrass, parsley, spinach etc.), and low temperatures and rpm minimize oxidation so juice lasts a long time. Other advantages are claimed, but these are the biggest for us.A well-known downside to twin-screw type juicers like the Green Power is that it takes quite a bit of force to push items like carrots into the juicer, because there is no cutting blade action, just the gripping/squeezing action of the twin screws. We want to juice quickly and get on with our day.I'm not a vegan, i'm not a juicing purist, or is interested in the centrifugal vs masticating debate. I just want to increase my health by drinking one big glass of fresh juice and get on with my life.I've owned other juicers, but this one is a monster. At high speed, it's loud no doubt, but it's power is without equal. I make a monster glass of juice (close to a quart) with 7 fruits and vegetables. It rips through all of them as if it were a joke. All the vegetables take about a minute, then i'm done.Now cleaning does take much longer than juicing, but the machine is made so well, that it's incredibly easy. It also works out perfect for me, because while i'm slowly consuming my juice, I wash out the parts by hand. The "Lexus" of juicers
We owned a refurbished Waring JEX328 juicer for about two years and my wife used it to make juice for our children and me almost every day. It held up fairly well and we paid almost nothing for it at the time (around 30 bucks, I think), but it finally cratered a couple of weeks ago. We debated for a while whether or not to replace it with this Breville model or the Hamilton Beach Big Mouth Pro. We finally decided on this one because it had so many five star ratings and because it is an appliance we use so often, thus we thought it made sense to get the best one we could find, even with its steeper price. Why I prefer this juicer to Green Star, Champion, and others:
The Breville BJE510XL Ikon 900-Watt Variable-Speed Juice Extractor is the third juicer I've owned, and is definitely my favorite. My cheap and easy-to-use Juiceman's motor burnt out after a year, at which point it would have been more expensive to repair than replace. My Champion still works after 15 years and is not difficult to clean, but is messy to use, leaving drips all over the countertop or whatever I line it with. I've also tried the Green Star and Green Power Juicers, which make perfect juice with dry pulp, but take a long time to clean and assemble. A great appliance for what it is... a centrifugal juicer!!!
First of all, a distinction needs to be made on exactly what type of juicer the Breville is, only then will these reviews be helpful. The Breville belongs to a class of juicers called centrifugal juicers. These work by forcing the juicing item onto centrally located spinning blades that essentially finely grates it and then the contents are thrown outward onto a spinning screen (spinning at a thousand or more revolutions per minute)... this forces the juice through the screen while the pulp gets held back and eventually slides up the angled screen and gets thrown over the top and into a holding bin... and thus the juice is separated from the pulp. The other types of juicers are the masticating juicer, where the item is literally crushed in an auger (a big screw) and compressed so that the juice flows through a small screen in the bottom while the pulp is pushed forward where it gets ejected at the far end... and the other type is the citrus juicer which is basically an electrically...

August 24, 2011My husband and I watched the documentary Fat Sick and Nearly Dead and decided we were ready to make changes. I had been eyeing another Breville juicer way before seeing the doc, but after we decided we were going to go for it I started to do some serious research on machines and models. Beginning on the Breville site, we watched videos of the different models in action, then read reviews across the web and finally decided on the Juice and Blend.Convincing my husband to pay extra for the blender was not easy but our house is on it's third stand alone blender this year, and our current one was on it's last legs when we were shopping for the juicer. Pricey but worth it
Newbie juicer here but our blender just kicked the bucket so I wanted to get something that could do both and last me a while ... and look good on the countertop too. The Juice n Blend is definitely a beast .. we've had it for a little over a month and it has been used just about every single day since it got here. Assembly and disassembly is super quick and it churns out juice very very fast .. it's been a top priority for my wife and I to begin adding more servings of vegetables and fruits in our diet and this has been a tasty way to do just that. The unit has worked remarkably well for juicing and the blender is simply a step above any of the blenders I've previously owned. Could be better
I've had the Breville BJB840XL Juice and Blend combo for about two weeks now, and have been using it twice daily, mainly for juicing. I have found some aspects of this juicer better than expected, and some aspects disappointing. I rate it as follows:Juicing: 3 stars. I purchased this product mainly to use as a juicer, as the other similar Breville juicers seemed to be unavailable, even on Breville's own website. Maybe they have been discontinued. At any rate, the juicing performance is disappointing. I've been making a green vegetable juice consisting usually of kale, parsley, celery, cucumber and apples, and a red vegetable juice made of tomatoes, bell peppers, carrots and scallions. Although the powerful motor allows the vegetables to be pushed through very quickly, a surprising amount of the produce ends up in the pulp bin. We just received our Breville 800CPXL Citrus Press after the holidays and have used it several times since. Compared to the low-end (and much less expensive) plastic Krupps version we replaced (which kept tripping our GFCI), I rate this product 4.5 stars out of 5. It falls just short of perfection, but is nonetheless the most elegant and functional citrus juicer I've been able to find at this price point.LIKES:1) Beautiful die-cast design feels substantial and stays put when pressing citrus. Kudos to the industrial design team for turning a juicer into a work of art. (I have rewritten parts of this review as of Apr 1, 2006 after much more usage.) In summary: I am very happy with the juicer.I was also prompted to write a review because of the person who writes about all the problems with the spout. I think I may know what the problem there is: It sounds like he juices with the spout in the up position instead of down. When juicing, the spout is supposed to be down. In fact, one of the nice things about this juicer is the spout. When you have enough juice or want to remove the juice catcher, lift the spout up and it closes off the flow of juice.I have found the machine very easy to use and to clean. I was impressed with the cleanup. It takes me about 2 minutes -- literally. Just rinse the parts, scrub the strainer with a stiff brush, and then leave to dry.I juice a lot of lemons and I have had only minor difficulty: If the lemon is too pointy I have to cut that point off to keep the lemon from spinning in the top...

Wow Juice Fountain
The Breville JE98XL was our replacement to our decade old Jack Lalanne Juicer. Wow, what a difference. If I had known what I was missing I would have made the switch a long time ago. We get a lot more juice out of our fruits and veggies with the Breville than with the Jack Lalanne. I can only imagine how much money was wasted over the years by not getting everything out of our produce. The Breville also makes quick work of juicing. Before, it was a major event to create enough juice for my family. Now it takes minutes. Clean up is super easy as well. And with the fitted juice catcher, no more mess to clean up like with the Jack Lalanne.One more comment on all those downers who gripe about high revolutions killing the enzymes. No Comparison to ANY Other Juicer in this price range
I had the Juiceman Pro 210 juicer and now this one. I alternate between being really into juicing to not juicing at all. So a $400-$500 investment in a single gear masticating juicer does not make sense.I am currently into a 'really into juicing' phase, so much so that I overworked the poor Juiceman juicer a while ago.Since I had no other point of reference at the time, my only issue with the Juiceman Pro 210 was that the feeder was small. I did wonder what it would be like to have a juicer accept an apple or orange without having to quarter it. But that really was the only issue. No complaints with plastic or motor or quantity of juice.This Breville juicer beats the Juiceman hands down in EVERY category that I can think of. Love our new juicer
For the past couple of years we had been using a juiceman jr. We liked it but it was having difficulty holding up to all the juicing we began to do most recently. We did some research and felt that the Breville would meet our needs. I was happy to learn with the bigger mouth I didn't have to do as much prep work as I had been doing with the juiceman jr. Also, the Breville has two speeds and a booklet that has great recipes and suggestions. Relatively easy to clean and put back together. We have used it everyday and is holding up to all the various fruits and vegetables we are juicing!

Dual disc juicer when compared to 800JEXL is superior in features in many ways. Just to list a few1) Motor is 1200 watts against 1000 watts in 800JEXL2) Rotary speed dial with speeds 1 to 5- Higher for harder fruits & vegetables compared to flip switch achieving two speeds in 800JEXL3) Ability to make soft fruit smoothies in dual disc in addition to juicing anything4) 3.5" dia feeder compared to 3" in 800JEXL.I use it daily for vegetable juice on week days and fruit smoothies on weekends.I use those vegetables in juicing which otherwise I generally donot eat.For exampleOne large tomato, two stems of celery, one large carrot, half lime or lemon and a small piece of gingerWith lime, I donot need to add salt. Truly comercial grade, fantastic product
In today's world, the term "commercial grade" is tossed around very casually. Often it's just a marketing tool to make you think an item is built to a higher standard than it acutally is. However, in this case, even though Breville does not use the words, I could think of no better term to describe this beast.You know you have a real product here when you take it out of the box. It's HEAVY. Not ridiculously heavy, not too heavy to move, just sturdy and well made. When you turn it on, you can hear and almost feel the power this device is going to bring to the task at hand.The juice this makes is great, you can control the pulp that you get, or don't get.We have owned cheaper juicers in the past, but honestly that is like comparing apple juice and orange juice (pun intended) there is simply no comparison.You will not regret for one moment making this purchase!
