Best mini helicopter at this price!
I have a small squadron of mini helicopters and this one is by far the best so far. I read great reviews of the Syma S107. I was quite pleased with it compared to some of the older Syma models. Then I saw the positive reviews for this and thought I would give it a go. It flies incredibly well! Quiter than the other seven helicopters I have and so stable, smooth, and responsive. It is a little slow with forward and reverse momentum, but not bad. Slow is easier to control...maybe that was intentional. We fly these every day in the office and this hands down outperforms everthing else. For those comparing models, here you go:Syma S109 Apache- ExcellentSyma S105G (Sport Helicopter) Very Good -Fastest, stable, but somewhat loud, durable metal frameSyma S107G- (Sport Helicopter) Very good- nearly identical to S105 but a little slower, different scheme, older?Syma S026 Chinook- Looks cool, flies ok, but hard to control. Too much power for its weight;...

Freaking awesome. 10x better than 1st gen copters
What a difference a gyro makes! Incredible...I tried one of the 1st gen micro R/C copters (no gyro on those) not long after they came out, and found them to be extremely difficult to control and not much fun because of it.This generation with the gyro is just amazing though...SO stable, SO easy - but not boring. There is still a learning curve for complete R/C noobies that will make this a great first R/C copter, but I look at it almost like a challenge...trying to master this little beast is FUN!This also actually looks like a real helicopter, compared to the ones I bought previously, which looked like....well like R/C copters - completely unrealistic. The LED lights are awesome so you can fly at night (my kids LOVE that - the dog...not so much), and the thing even seems to behave like a real helicopter, with ground effect and having to reduce speed (thrust?) to tilt forward (I am no pilot or physicist, but I do know that the previous models I...

Awesome price for an awesome copter
I own two other indoor helicopters that I purchased for three to four times as much money at the mall. This is the helicopter that has the best control out of all of them. I can land this thing on a soda can and fly circles around my wives head (my favorite part, especially when she is watching stupid tv shows like the Kardashians). This is the absolute best gift for any male you know. My 8 year old can fly it. Cant say enough about what you get for the price. I also love the silly Engwish warnings printed on the props.

Not for 10 and uo!!
Helped my son build this model and even I had some difficulty with it. The instructions can be very vague, the parts don't always fit well, and some parts are very fragile. should be skill level 3 at least. Just remember better quality from Revell.

As close as it gets to flying the Apache AH Mk1
I could tell you what a terrific writer Ed Macy is and what a courageous soldier, marvelous pilot, and, and, and. All of that is true. But what it basically comes down to in this book is being inside. Inside the monstrous machine none of us would ever set a foot in - even less get to fly the 46 million GBP thing. You want to feel the thrill of first takeoff, Camp Bastion, Helmand Province? Burn your fingers on the stick and controls preheated by the Afghan sun, wipe the sweat off your face as you inhale the smell of metal and resin as the four thundering rotor blades race it across the desert, the twin Rolls Royce engines working at full speed. All of that and more you find in here. The book concentrates on a breathtaking rescue mission to retrieve a Marine MIA, where the Apaches must land right in the middle of a Taliban stronghold and come face to face with hordes of their unrelenting enemy. But it has much more. The human side, the thrill, the comradeship,...

What "Firebirds" (the movie) Should have been!
If anyone out there is a "egg beater" fanatic - or a Tank Killer enthusiast, then this is the book for you! This book is more than just an insight into the Apache Long Bow. It is a look at a very different "animal" that the Brits put together, and have put to very good use I might add! (Infidels should be proud!) The Apache is an American creation. But Ed Macy, who is more than just a pioneer in the field of flying/"owning" this machine, puts a very detailed spin on flying the British version of the Apache in Afghanistan while on the front lines. He chronicles what the Brits did in way of changing the Apache into a hard-charging, tank-killing attack chopper of their own. Plus, his is a first hand account of what type of "punishment" it takes to actually fly their version - because of the changes and "modifications" that their tech division made to the existing platform. (The US Army really should look into these improvements for their own inventory!)From the moment I...

Man and Machine as One in Battle
I was captivated by this true story of a British Apache helicopter pilot's career and experiences flying missions in Afghanistan in 2006. What impressed me with Ed Macy as a person was his focus on achieving his desire to fly in the military and especially the new Westland AH Mk1 Apache helicopter. A good summary of the challenge is given by this excerpt from the front cover overleaf -". . . the deadliest, most technologically advanced helicopter on the planet. As strong as a tank . . . the helicopter is remarkably fast and nearly impossible to shoot down. . . . [With] weapons and cameras, the Apache pilot can spot prey from miles away . . . And it is the toughest aircraft in the world to fly - only the top 2 percent of pilots make it . . . hands, feet, and even eyes need to operate independently."If it wasn't clear that this was a true story of one man's experiences, one could easily read it as a fictional novel filled with a character with beyond human...

Product Description

Apache is the incredible true story of Ed Macy, a decorated Apache helicopter pilot, that takes you inside the cockpit of the world’s deadliest, most technically advanced helicopter in the world—the Apache helicopter. In the cockpit of an Apache, hands, feet, and even eyes need to operate independently. As strong as a tank and, equipped with two Rolls Royce RTM-322 engines, the helicopter is remarkably fast and nearly impossible to shoot down. And thanks to a powerful array of weapons and cameras, the Apache helicopter can spot prey from miles away—and kill the enemy with a flick of the finger.
In 2007, Ed’s Apache squadron was dispatched to Afghanistan’s notorious Helmand Province, with the mission to fight alongside and protect the men on the ground by any means necessary. And when a marine goes missing in action, Ed and his team know they are the army’s only hope of bringing him back alive. With a soldier strapped to each side of two gunships, they must land in the heart of Jugroom Fort, a Taliban stronghold, and come face-to face with hordes of their unrelenting enemy. What follows is a breathtaking rescue, unlike any the world has ever seen.

Nice toy for those who love choppers!
I bought this toy for my 8 year old nephew as I wanted him to love the Apache helicopter as much as I do!This is a great toy which now sits at his computer desk reminding him of me :)Advantages:- This is a great toy, at 'not-so-bad' price!- Its easy and fun to assemble. Took my nephew just under 30 mins to put it all together.- Its very similar to what a real apache looks like.Disadvantages:- Its not a toy kids can play with. Assemble it and use it as one of the show pieces on the desk.

Not bad for the price
This is a good model to buy if you're cheap and you're not looking for anything too fancy but want to add a helicopter to the arsenal of models. At 2 feet, it looks on the cheap side (which it is). At 10 feet, it could pass as a die-cast to most people who are not scrutinizing it. It took about 20 minutes to put together and it wasn't too frustrating. I would have gave it 5 stars had it come assembled.

SYMA 3 CHANNEL MINI HELICOPTER
Bought nine SYMA 3 Channel S012 Mini AH-64 RC Helicopters from Amazon.Com for 9 yr old nephew, three nieces, 8 yrs, 9yrs and 11 yrs, and 32yr old son (so the kids would go home with a helicopter that worked when they left). These helicopters are rugged! They were also the star present from Santa. The four youngsters learned to fly them up, down, forward and back, hovering and diving, with the only grumble that they had to wait while they recharged. 9 yr old nephew took the rockets attached to the sides off as he found them too cumbersome and had it diving all over the place, coming round a corner to attack. My niece had it flying around evading a rolled up napkin nephew was using to attempt to bring it down. Helicopter dropped numerous times but they all went home in one piece. These little helicopters are solid. I know, I've bought them each Christmas for the past three years and had these kids crying when they left to go home with broken planes. Not this Christmas...

Great way to learn to fly a Helicopter
I just stopped flying to recharge the batteries on the Apache. I bought this Helicopter not expecting much in the way of fun and durability. I figured at this price it would last a weekend and be off to the trash. Was I ever wrong. Not only have my boys and I learned how to fly with this helicopter we have bumped it into walls, ceilings and everything else in the house along the way. I thought that since it was so inexpensive it would be marginal with regard to flight controls but it is actually pretty good and we are having to fight over who fly's it next.If you want to learn how to fly an RC Helicopter I think this is a great way to start. Highly Recommend!

Not quite for kids?
Ordered on a Friday, received on Thursday. Toy has a bit of a learning curve -- could not imagine giving to a kid under 11 or 12, as its fragile body probably wouldn't last more than a couple flights (you run into a lot of walls and land pretty roughly your first couple tries). A blast once you get the hang of it, though. 15-20 minutes' charge gets you 5-6 minutes' flight, and three channels means you get up/down, left/right rotation, and forward/backward. Instruction manual is laughably translated to English, but intelligible. Seems to be a good ice-breaker for a serious RC copter.
