Cute; great for the price
I bought these for a six-year-old. They are a good starter set and quite sturdy. There is definitely a tone difference between the two drums--they look and sound like real mini bongos! :)

Awesome!
We got these for my dad as a birthday gift. I was skeptical about them being up to his standards as he's a trained percussionist from his youth and although he has since gone into a more professional career as an adult he still knows whats-what when it comes to anything drums.And.... he LOVED them. He was surprised that Amazon carried such a professional brand. He said they were better than the set he already had.What do you get the guy who has everything? Something he already has and loves, of course!! So he has now started a small collection of bongos and likes to have jam sessions with family and friends whenever possible... and having more than one set now makes this possible.I may have to buy myself a set so I can practice for our future jam sessions! :)

best for the price
I'm new at these but I had a friend come over and tune them up for me. He got the natural skin heads wet, tuned them and when they dried these drums produced a really nice sound. I think these are probably the best ones if you dont want to spend a lot of dough. I checked out some youtube videos and leanrt some cool beats. They are fun to play and they make some good sound. I would recommend them for the beginner. Just have an experienced drummer do a good tune on them..it makes all the difference, really.

Great set of starter bongos, especially for children
I purchased this set of bongos as a birthday present for my 7 year-old son. They came out of the box pretty much ready to play, just a few turns of the tuning wrench had them good to go. I was pretty impressed by the sturdy construction and the real skin heads.My son has been happily beating on this set for a couple of weeks now, and he seems to really be enjoying them. The skins have broken in now with the frequent playing, and that has softened the tone a little. This set really packs a good sound into a small package. Highly recommended if you want a good set of starter bongos for yourself or your kids. Would also make a good travel set or something to keep in your office for those days when you just want to bang your own drum.

I took them out of the box ....
I bought them for my son for his 11th birthday next month.. but I couldn't help taking them out of the box when I got them yesterday.. IN LOVE ...they are small and sound very nice. I love them and he will too :) Very sturdy, sounds great, would even look good just sitting on a shelf!

Awesome Deal!
Very good price. I bought these and they work great. WARNING: Don't expect a really nice bag. The bag that comes with it is a straw, drawstring bag. It was great for what I needed it for, but as I said, don't expect too much.It comes with a tuning wrench that is, in my opinion, necessary for making these things work! I believe that the heads are cowhide. They are definitely not plastic like rock drumsets. All in all, a pretty good deal for $50!

Built well and prepared to take a beating
As a musician I have owned various Remo products in the past and while these aren't professional quality by any means, they are a fun, sturdy starting point for someones little fingers. The built in legs keep them just high enough off of the surface to allow the drum head to resonate (except on our medium pile rug) and they are strong enough to handle a smashing (I often find him beating on them with my drumsticks). The drum heads are not tunable, but they do sound quite nice right out of the box. The good thing about these is the sound actually gets better over time. As they loosen the tone gets nice and mellow. We used to keep a few of the earlier models of these Remo drums in the studio for recording because they had a surprisingly nice tone, nothing has changed there. Good bongos for the money.
These are great for kids. They don't need to be "tuned" (adjusted) so they are always ready for play. Got them for our twin 5 year olds last year. At 6, they're still playing with them regularly.

Drum gently
I purchased these bongos for my 2 1/2 year old son for Christmas because he is fascinated with music. He loves to drum along with Quincy on the Little Einsteins but he has a heavy hand... he has already punched a hole through one side. Be forwarned to use a gentle touch or a light tapping from a toy drumstick, otherwise you will be searching for a way to repair the bongos like I am.

Two year old loves it even as it's falling apart
Purchased this for my two year old nephew and he loves it, however, it's not the best quality. But what can you expect for the price? They're inexpensive. The middle connection is loose after about 3 months, but it's still very functional. They don't sound the greatest, so if you're expecting anything other than a children's toy, spend a little bit more money.Keep out of reach of dogs though. Many will lick and chew the leather/rawhide drum tops and ruin them.
