By one of today's better writers/riders
Mike Seate has a leg up writing wise, he lives in Pennsylvania. Not that I think being from PA means you're a better writer, it just means you have to face certain slings and arrows that the boys in Newport Beach don't understand. In fact until recently Mike didn't even have a driver license. That speak volumes to the men and women in the other 47 states that experience what is known as "weather". It might seem trivial but as a harsh critic of motorcycle writing I have discovered it really is the key. This book chronicles three aspects of the Cafe Racer. First is Mike's personal experience "evolving" from a loud, low and slow biker to a fast, gritty ton up boy. He also covers both the history of the genre and where it is today. Many books have been written, both about the bikes and the "boys" of this era, some might be better but the photos and history here coupled with Mike's fine writing make it worthwhile addition to the veteran's shelf and a fine introduction for the...

cafe Racing alive and well
Mike Seate's book is a fantastic accounting of the current condition in cafe racer circles. It is alive and well; albeit well represented by overweight enthusiasts who can now afford to indulge in the machines they dreamt of as teenagers. Mike also chronicles the history of the Rocker scene in London; the foundation for rider groups of the light, fast British motorcycles of the 50s and 60s. Many contemporary cafe style bikes are shown in quality photographs, and clubs, like the Brit Iron Rebels are featured within the pages. This book will be an eye-opener for the new rider who has a narrow "American V Twin-only" experience in motorcycling.Armand

Cafe Racer: The Motorcycle
The book was well written. I happen to like Mike's writing style so therefore enjoyed this book. Great period photos and good ideas for modern Cafes. Clearly a good text for someone who wishes to learn about these great machines and the people that have an affinity for them.

Looks great and shipped fast
The package shipped fast and came to me well protected. These fit my 1983 Honda CB650 Nighthawk very well. I do have to use risers as I don't get full lock with how I have them set. I'll update once I receive my risers.

A Great Place to Start
If you're interested in the cafe racer scene today, first learn about the original cafe racer scene in Britain in the 1960's and '70's. The Cafe Racer Phenomenon is a great place to start. Who made these bikes? Why did they make them? What was it like to ride them, to hang out at the cafes, the girls, the music, the street racing? With outstanding period photos and interviews of the young men who made all of this happen across Britain. This single volume provides the best link from today's retro cafe racer scene back over the years to the real thing. You won't be disappointed!

Great Book, worth the purchase.
This is fantastic book for those of us who weren't around to experience the cafe racers of the 60's and 70's. It's like a time capsle sending you back to the lifestyle and genre of the ton-up boys and what it meant to earn that label.Book was just as described from seller, perfect and unused condition.

A great ride
A fun read, with pictures from the heyday of the rocker era. These are not idealized recreations or pictures of people today trying to look the part, these are photos from the actual time. Brief stories cover the trends, bikes (and mods to them), clothing and stories of this era, as well as a discussion of the Ace Cafe. A book you'll come back to over and over again.

Best bang for your buck.
Sturdy bars, good construction, great chrome finish; you simply can't beat them for the money. I installed these on a 1971 Honda CB450, they will hit the tank if you turn the fork fully side to side, but they are perfect when riding. A little cutting and grinding is required to ruin your wiring, but with the right tools and a helping hand, they can be installed in an afternoon.

Quality Clubman Cafe Bars
These Clubman Cafe Bars are replacement bars for a cafe retro look on my 1964 vintage Honda Benly. The quality of the welds and chrome far exceeded my expectations considering the low low price I paid for them, even at twice the price this would be a great buy. These bars fit perfectly with my 7/8 inch bar clamps, no complaints, I will buy another one for a future build.

Everywhere else that I saw these bars listed, they were more than double the price. They were a key part on my cafe racer project.

Product Description

The 1970s was the era of the cafe racer in its second phase, that of the specialist manufacturers. Certain mainstream marques such as Ducati, Moto Guzzi, Laverda and Yamaha also catered for this emerging market by producing production factory cafe racers such as the 900SS [Ducati],  Le Mans [Guzzi],  Mongich [Laverda] and RD Series [Yamaha].  Famed motorcycle author Mick Walker graphically recreates the era of the cafe racers.  Numerous contemporary photos are featured, with captions explaining the history and technical features of the machines and describing the men who made and rode them.
