A Triumph
Well the first time I had ever heard of the band was with vocalist Matt Schultz appearance on British comedy show "Never Mind The Buzzcocks." He formed an unlikely alliance with Stephen Fry and Josie Long. The bands music wasn't played or even that heavily mentioned in the show, but thanks to Matts antic I became intrigued at what this band had to offer. Were they just another indy band with nothing new to give, or were they something fresh and original amongst a bland "pop-rock indy" music scene. They are definitely the latter in that respect and have brought to a world audience possibly the best album of 2008. From "In One Ear" to "Free Love" Cage the Elephant present a delightful, cool, loud and crazy album that will have all the bland indy music lovers wake up and realise originality and talent when they hear it.The vocals of Matt Schultz is definitely the most enticing part of the band as although it's not something I haven't heard before, he has a sort of...

What a fantastic suprise!!!!!!
I first saw CTE's video for "Ain't No Rest..." and the tune was catchy enough that I did some research on-line and saw that they were performing at Cafe Du Nord in SF a few days later. I caught the show and I must say that it is one of the BEST performances I've ever seen. I met Brad, his wife and Matt afterwards and they are some of the nicest and down to earth people I've ever met. I hope that doesn't change when they become huge stars, which I KNOW they will. Matt's energy on stage is electrifying and Lincoln is a surprisingly talented guitarist. He's only 19 yrs. old???!!! I bought the album and it pales in comparison to seeing them live, but it is a stil an awesome example of the band's talent. I know they are going to hi it BIG!

Love it, Love it, Love it
We are very happy with this release...the music is just our style and almost every cut is very well done and a real pleasure to the ears. I've owned it for about a month now and have actually had to put it away for a bit because I've listened to it so much - I was about to burn out on it! But I'll drag it back out in a week or two and it will likely get a lot of time in my CD player in 2010.There are several primo cuts on here that are really stand out...roughly in order of my favorites: In One Ear, Ain't No Rest for the Wicked, Back Against the Wall, and Free Love. Who doesn't like free love? :-)When I first heard it, it sounded much like Jet to me and still does in places. But I can also hear other influences briefly here and there including Nirvana, Beck, and maybe a splash of Smash Mouth. But they definitely have their own sound...give it a whirl...

So True
Just heard this for the 1st time recently, although it's been out for a while. Best song I've heard in months. Love the guitar. For some reason, the same MP3 download is now available on Amazon for 2 different prices. The cheaper one is 99 cents.

Awesome song
I'd never heard of these guys before Pandora Radio played it on one of my stations. Great song! I bought it immediately upon hearing it for the first time.

CTE cd
Album is alright I recommend buying individual songs rather the whole CD. Even though the CD isn't great the band does make some great individual songs which is similar to other bands all around so I suggest to YouTube the band and find the songs you like and get them from here alot cheaper as singles then buying the CD

Not as catchy as their debut, but then...
With an attitude that only the young and talented can pull off, this new disc is hard to understand, which is part of what makes it great. Furthermore, it took me several (seven or so) close listens to decide if I even liked it. I do.My suggestion to Sony Music, now that they own CTE, is to allow these guys to spend all the time they can in the studio putting down what they have to say NOW! Should CTE get three more full-length discs out within the next couple of years, they will have cemented a place in rock history. This brilliant intensity can only last a few more years before age/money/drugs/ego will take its toll.

Cage The Elephant's "Thank You, Happy Birthday" - Incredible Range For A Second Album
Cage The Elephant's is both surprising and impressive. This album makes it clear that they already knew what they wanted their music to sound like before their debut. When bands have a very strong first album, it's hard to follow it up with something that is fresh and still their own. Some bands can buck that trend, but few rarely do. Reading that they worked on 80 song ideas while on tour only makes me even more anxious for the third album.Whatever they have in the water in KY, it seems to be working. This is the best sophomore album in recent memory. On the one hand this album has some tracks that are much more polished than the first one. Songs like "Always Something," "Aberdeen" and "Right Before My Eyes" sound like they could have come right off of BRMC's...

Product Description

Cage The Elephant will release their eagerly awaited sophomore album, Thank You, Happy Birthday, on January 11, 2011. Produced by Jay Joyce and recorded at Tragedy/Tragedy Studios in Nashville, TN, the album is the bands follow up to their critically acclaimed 2009 self titled debut, which has sold nearly 400,000 copies to date, spawned 3 top 5 singles at Alternative radio and has kept the band on the road for nearly two years. Now, Cage The Elephant returns with a 13 song collection of a raucous and inspired rock that displays an expanded sound for the band, and a bold reminder of exactly why they are one of the most loved bands in rock music today.

The young five-piece from Bowling Green, KY, Matt Shultz (vocals), Brad Shultz (guitar), Daniel Tichenor (bass), Lincoln Parish (guitar) and Jared Champion (drums), accumulated 80 songs worth of ideas during a 2-year period touring around the globe and living abroad in England supporting their eponymous debut. As they began sorting through their arsenal of songs upon returning to Kentucky to record album two, they were unwavering in their devotion to making a record that reflected their vast musical growth and interests as a band. It Killed Me To Listen to This...
I'd like to establish that I love Cage the Elephant. I've been following these guys since Perfect Confusion (A band made up of many Cage members.) I loved them as PC, but when they formed Cage the Elephant their debut left me completely in awe. I loved it! I mean, I know my music pretty well, and I have a lot of tastes and had a lot of established favorites when that CD dropped, but I was parading their stuff around, telling people how great it was. I couldn't get over it, and maybe that's why I was so let down with this album. When Shake Me Down dropped I was taken aback with how different it sounded. It sounded like standard alternative rock affair. I thought okay, maybe that wanted to put out something sort of standard for their first new single. The album dropped, I got my pre-order, and I was so disappointed. It's good to evolve and mature as an artist, something Cage would have to do eventually, but completely changing their style on their second album? It's ridiculous, they've...

I just bought it.
This is a great joint it's got kind of a mellow rage to it. Great for headphones or drunken singalongs.

Why Does this sound like Gwen Steffani's "Holla Back Girl"?
they ripped off the riff from Gwen Steffani's "Holla Back Girl"!..not sure what all the hub-bub is about this band. If I wanted to hear a band like this, i'd seek out better artists, like Modest Mouse or something..LOL

BUY Thank You Happy Birthday

Buy Cage The Elephant

Lines to go in. Lines to buy drinks, lines to buy food, lines to go to the toilet. I decided not to go see Joan Jett on the other stage and wait there so I wouldn’t be in a crappier place to check Dave Grohl and Co. When they got on stage, there were over 75,000 people there and they were all waiting to see Foo Fighters. First band to play that I was interested in seeing was Cage the Elephant (CTE) whose concert would start at 3:00pm. They played almost  2 1/2 hours performing their hits like “The Pretender”, “Everlong”, “Times Like These”, “All My Life”, “My Hero” and  ”Learning to Fly” just to name a few (btw: they also played Pink Floyd’s “In The Flesh”). It took almost 40 minutes to get in and I only got to see half of Cage the Elephants frenetic rock. When they started playing I realized how far I was from the other stage that I decided to go back to the other one, since I wanted to see Band of Horses from a good vantage spot. The next day I had to arrive earlier since I was anxious to see the first band,  Gogol Bordello (starting at 2:00pm). The concerts on the 2 main stages were alternating so when CTE were done, O Rappa started playing on the other side. By 2:30pm I was on my way (I was about 15 minutes from the site of the event) but when I got there at 2:45pm there was a huge line to get in. I had no option but to join the poor bastards in the sun. Anyway, back to the concerts, after waiting a bit (for O Rappa to finish), Band of Horses got on stage. Having learned I had to choose a stage and stay there, I decided to stay where I was.
