Small convenient little calculator
This desk top calculator is very small. At first I was slightly disappointed with it's size, but having used it for a while I am really enjoying this convenient little calculator. The key pad has very nice spring action with a clear display screen. I very much like the idea that it is solar powered. It takes very limited space on my desk and serves my simple needs extremely well. Nice product for a nice price.

Best School Supply Ever!
This calculator is hands-down the best I have ever had the honor of using. While the TI-84 Plus may not have as much space or as many pre-loaded Apps as the TI-84 Plus Silver Edition, the TI-84 Plus offers everything a high school (possibly some college) math student needs in order to successfully learn and solve mathematics material. The TI-84 Plus comes loaded with several Apps that will make things even more convenient, such as a Probability Simulator and Cabri Jr., a great geometry app. Student looking to upgrade from the TI-83 Plus will find comfort in the fact that the TI-84 Plus is 2.5x faster and has 3x the memory than the TI-83 Plus. The TI-84 Plus is also extremely easy to hook up to your computer to transfer new Apps and updates to it using the USB port and the included USB cable. The TI-84 Plus will be a great investment for any student's education.

A great improvement on the TI-83 Plus
The new TI-84 Plus is a wonderful calculator. If anybody has had the TI-83 or 83 Plus, they know how easy and reliable it is. The 84 Plus is an all-around imprivement on the older version and even worth the additional $15-$20. I have had it since school started and have noticed than any problem I enter, it is solved immediately upon pressing enter, or solve. The speed is a great improvement over the 83-Plus. The computer features are nice, but rarely used by myself. For anybody who is supposed to buy a TI series calculator for school, the 84 Plus us definitely the one to pick up this year and for the next few years I assume. Easy, fast, reliable, durable, and even sleek. As long as you handle it properly and use it enough, you will get all of your $110 out of the TI-84 Plus.

less is more.
I am on my third TI-83+ (my first two were stolen). My brother owns an 84, and I can tell you that it offers nothing that the 83 doesn't have. Many of the preloaded apps are useless (an address book? please!), and take up so much space that the memory increase is worthless. The 84 is a continuation of TI's tendency to offer huge amounts of style with little or no substance. I prefer the 83 for its streamlined design. The one improvement is that the slip cover on the 84 does not become loose with a great deal of use, which is a problem I have encountered with my three 83s. It looks as though the USB connectivity could be a plus (for the 83, you had to buy a separate connectivity kit to connect to a PC), however, most buyers will not need to connect their calculator to their PC.

Got me from pre-algebra to pre-calc
This is probably the best calculator for middle to high school kids. I got mine in seventh grade and it was all I needed until calculus. In fact, we weren't even allowed to use graphing calculators until pre-calc. I held off getting one until calculus, though, because my TI-30XIIS did everything i needed it to and was so easy to use.The best thing:-you can enter entire expressions and solve them. this is because, unlike earlier models, functions like sine, cosine, tangent, square root, etc. are entered before the number. for example, with other models you would punch in 45 and hit tan, and it would automatically give you the answer 1. With the 30XIIS, however, you press tan, then 1, then enter. It seems like a disadvantage at first, but when you are doing more complicated math and need to enter a whole line of info, it's a huge time-saver.Other good things:-You can go back and substitute other numbers into your expression. Product Description

The Texas Instruments TI-30X IIS 2-Line Scientific Calculator features two-line display and other advanced features users get with the TI-30x IIS. The display shows the equation you are creating on the top line, and the numbers or symbols you are currently entering on the second line. Once the equation is solved, the results are displayed on the second line, and you can use the four arrow keys on the front of the calculator to edit the original equation in any way you like for a recalculation. Better still, pressing the up arrow repeatedly lets you browse through a cache of dozens of previous calculations, meaning you can look back to see the answer to a problem. The device uses solar power when possible but can fall back on the internal batteries (which are included) if there isn't enough light. There are three angle modes (degrees, radians, and grads), scientific and engineering notation modes, and even one- or two-variable statistical modes. Five variables can also be assigned to their own memory slots. The calculator comes with a Snap-On cover that fits on the back of the device. Top to learn more

There are many inexpensive scientific calculators on the market, but few boast the two-line display and other advanced features users get with the TI-30x IIS. The display shows the equation you are creating on the top line, and the numbers or symbols you are currently entering on the second line. Once the equation is solved, the results are displayed on the second line, and you can use the four arrow keys on the front of the calculator to edit the original equation in any way you like for a recalculation. Better still, pressing the up arrow repeatedly lets you browse through a cache of dozens of previous calculations, meaning you can look back to see the answer to a problem you solved two minutes ago, two days ago, or whenever.

The device uses solar power when possible but can fall back on the internal batteries (which are included) if there isn't enough light. The buttons wiggle around a little too much and require a firm keystroke to register input, but the fact that input can be followed by looking at the output on the first line helps to cut down on mistakes. There is a shift key that doubles the functions of most buttons, and although the TI-30X IIS isn't festooned with as many buttons or functions as some other calculators we've tested in this price range, it's still very capable. There are three angle modes (degrees, radians, and grads), scientific and engineering notation modes, and even one- or two-variable statistical modes. Five variables can also be assigned to their own memory slots. The documentation is lacking, as everything is presented on a single folded sheet of paper, but Texas Instruments did manage to pack several illustrated examples on the page. The calculator comes with a snap-on cover that fits on the back of the device when you are using it. The calculator carries a one-year limited warranty. --T. Byrl Baker

4 1/2 Durable and Inexpensive!
Main Points:I used this calculator for over 10 years before it finally stopped working, and I treated it fairly roughly (e.g.,coffe spills). I think others here have attested to the functionality of the TI-30, so I just want to emphasize that it's a tough little gadget as well. Yes, the buttons are on the small side and there is a bit of play, but this was never a major problem (although at times it slows down data entry). You can go to http://education.ti.com/downloads for a good overview of TI calculators, and you can scope out one of TI's major competitors at http://www.casio.com.A Little History:This was also one of the first commercially available low-priced calculators that had two-line display and backspace to correct or edit data entry. The dual-power and scrolling display features were also once unusual. The top line (for data entry) shows up to 11 characters; you can scroll backwards or forwards up to 88! The bottom line (shows results) displays up...

User friendly calcualtor
Nice to finally see TI step into the two-line solar calculator market. Very easy to use and the buttons have a solid feel. I also like the large display so you can easily see both the equation and the answer. Why did it give the TI-30 II only four stars? For the same price, there are good two-line calcs (Casio FX-115 MS for example) which include a larger library of functions (base calculations, integrals, derivates, solve function) for the same amount of money.

Canon LS82Z Calculator from Amazon
I am a realtor and a calculator is essential for my job. This little Canon LS82Z Calculator is the right price; I can see the numbers; the shipping was free through Prime shipping; and I got it within a week (might have even been a couple of days.)It came with a function card and taught me some things I may have known, but surely had forgotten about storing information and re-using it; again, a real asset for customers asking about financing. It really is a sweety! Handy Little Calculator
I know there is a calculator on my computer, but I still love regular calculators and this one is a convenient, compact size. Since this is dual powered, it will last longer and you can recharge it with solar power. The size of this calculator is nice because it fits in your hand while you calculate away. I find I make less mistakes, although I do sort of miss my calculator with the larger key pad.~The Rebecca Review

Clear Solid Calculator...
This Amazon brand calculator is a pleasure to use, and even look at. It has nice big buttons for fat fingers like mine, a very large and clear readout, and it is even attractive. (It's readout is bigger than some calculators I have seen that are even larger than this one.) It's made mostly of a nice brushed aluminum that makes it as light as can be, and it looks really nice on top of your desk without taking a lot of room. Although this is a basic calculator in every respect, its looks tend to suggest it can perform something much more intelligent. In actuality, I very much enjoy its size and the fact that it doesn't seem to understand what a standard deviation is any more than I do. This is an economy model calculator that didn't skimp on quality and function in the least. It's solar powered by any light, and can be backed up by a battery. The only downside that I have noticed with this model is the little plastic dimples on the bottom that pass as feet. They are very small...

Great basic calculator
This is a great deal. It runs even under low light because of the battery backup, but it is great to know the solar is there for stronger light. The keys are easy to use and the display is clear. The only drawback is that the batteries are not easily replaceable; you need to remove screws and they are not standard AAA or AA batteries, so they would be more expensive to replace. Hopefully moy desk lamp will allow the solar to work I stead of relying on the batteries. It is also lightweight, unlike AA battery calculators. There is no cover, so it would not work well for someone who needs to throw it in a backpack, but I recommend this for anyone looking for a desk top calculator.

Does the job with a good functional design & size
This calculator does the job well and has a good functional design in that the display is a good size to read and the buttons are large enough to press without making an error. I also like the angle of the LCD display as well. It runs off solar but if there is not enough light in the room, it will run off the internal battery so it never 'doesn't work'.I've seen similar calculators for even less at discount stores however this one does seem a bit better quality and will likely last longer than something cheaper. It's made of all plastic. While this not a scientific calculator by any means, it gets the job done well as a household calculator to pay bills with, which is what I use it for and enjoy doing so over my old pocket calculator that I had been using previously. My eyes have thanked me.

Tough Little Calculator! (Style has changed - see photo)
I'm SO happy to see they still make this model calculator! I've had mine for about ten years now and use it daily and it finally died today. I've used it so much I wore the paint off of the point key, and pulled it out tonight to check something and the plus key (finally) stopped working. This is an awesome and very tough little calculator, the display is nice and big and very easy to read in even low light (and I have poor vision), it's lightweight and I can easily throw it in the drawer without worrying about it getting damaged, but it's not so light you can't pound away on it without it slipping around (and it has two little rubber feet to keep it in place). And it's completely solar, no batteries to worry with. I just ordered another one tonight, and I'm so glad I don't have to get used to a different one (I key very fast and it keeps up with me), here's hoping my new one lasts another ten years :-)Update - I just got this in the mail today and FYI the style number is...

handy calculator
I bought 2 of these calculators to take to some of my relatives in the Philippines. They live in a small farming village in rural northeastern Luzon. It's a jungle environment that has no utilities and the closest thing to a shop is a 3 hour jeep ride away. My relatives wanted some calculators for when they took their corn and banana crops to the buyers in town, so they could quickly figure if they were getting a fair deal for their stuff. The TI1795SV can handle the rough environment, with all the dust, dirt, and getting dropped & whatnot. It would be perfect if it was waterproof (it's not) but my relatives are being careful to carry the calculators in Ziplocs (amazing you can buy Ziplocs in the jungle but no batteries) during typhoons and not drop them in the river.

Great Product
I had a more expensive TI calculator (business version model BA 20) on my desk that alwyas needs bright light to operate -- but has more functions. My wife has had this one for years, and I kept "robbing it" since it works in low light, is simple, has large keys and is easy to use. It's a perfect little calculator. Love it.

If you're looking for a low-cost calculator but want a unit that's sturdier than most, then the Texas Instruments TI1795SV may be your ideal choice. It offers basic math operations without the frills that you may never need. Plus, it has a combination solar/battery power supply for long battery life and easy reading in any lighting condition.

The TI1795SV is a slightly larger and sturdier version of the Texas Instruments TI1706 solar calculator. Like the TI1706, the TI1795 offers functions for square root, percentages, plus and minus values, and memory. However, the TI1795 is designed as a mini desktop calculator, so its eight-character LCD is larger and easier to read, and the unit overall has a weightier and more substantial feel.

Although it's too large to fit in a shirt pocket, the TI1795SV fits comfortably in a coat pocket or a purse. Use it at home, work with it at the office, or take it to the grocery store or anywhere you need quick and easy calculations. --John Frederick Moore Top to learn more
