Through A Glass Darkly
Arnaud Maillet's study of the Claude Glass was informative and insightful in the main. As an artist and geometer I found all of the information contained in the book of great interest and instructive. As one who has of late been studying the subject of reflections and mirrors in general, as well as applications to the nuero-visual and geometric, this filled an improtant gap in my knowledge. It may not be a perfectly organized study but it is the only one I am aware of in English. It had the effect of my creating my own Claude Glass with a converse clock face glass cover and enamel black paint sprayed on the back. I have been enjoying experimentation with it since and will no doubt employ it in some art work. Any book that prompts one to use the information inside is a book worthy of reading I think. It seemed to cover the various areas of the subject; It's developement and history, occult use for scrying, as a device for reducing an image and also foraccessing the tonal values...

A must for music appreciation
This 4 CD set not only contains some of the best performances of the last century, but also works as a comprehensive review of some of the finest musical literature spanning from the Baroque period to Modern Avant-Garde. Some of the earlier recordings are better for nostalgia purposes due to the poor mediums of the times, but the performances for the most part are professional. Only complaint: Some of the best works (Wagner's "Die Walküre", for example) are only provided in excerpt form to showcase a certain performer or section of the piece. Otherwise a worthy investment for the price and amount of quality music that is presented.

A touch of history....
An exceptional set. The history of music making of the 20th century in 4 CDs. Even from the first track with Giuseppe Campanari and Charles Adams Prince you can see that people put much time in collecting the best interpretations and putting together an amazing collection. Other highlights include the "Mack The Knife" with Lotte Lenya, the Bachiana Brasileiras, The Fanfare For The Common Man with LSO conducted by the composer and so many more. An undespiuted FIVE STARS

Strange interpretation of "classical"
I bought this CD because it contained some songs I was having a hard time finding elsewhere, such as Passo pel prat, Chants d'Auvergne sung by Fredrica Von Stade. However, some of the songs on this CD do not seem to belong e.g. all three songs by John Williams, Mack the Knife, Barbra Streisand, and the Psycho Murder Theme for starters, and many more.I gave the CD 4 stars only because I was happy that I was able to find a few somewhat rare tracks.
