The Last 20 Minutes
I suggest that anyone who is hardcore Sex Pistols/Sid/Nancy watch "Who Killed Nancy". This film is primarily a cast of creeps, many of whom (I suspect) wouldn't recall reality the day after, let alone decades after. Plain and simple, there are 22 sides to the elephant and history can easily be rewritten with the tossing together of drugs and imagination. A few people in the movie, however, are insightful and have genuine input that contributes substantially to the story. They are the people I tend to listen to and consider. "Who Killed Nancy" is somewhat more about the scene of the times and about the massive substance use occurring among the people of that era's subgroup. Nancy's death is something of a sideline to the main story of the film. Interestingly, the movie hems, haws, considers this way or that, BS's, probabilities, possibilities - until about the last 20 minutes. It is near the end of the movie that the intrigue deepens and some potentially solid conclusions are made. As...

Noir and Noel and Nuance: Excellent Movie, Entertaining Backstory
This is more than just another last-man-standing suitcase-full-of-money movie.John Cusack plays an everyman, a lawyer who has sold out to the values of corporate corruption. With mixed feelings, he steals over two million dollars from the local mob on Christmas Eve, then plans with Billy Bob Thornton to make a break for it later on Christmas Day.The mob boss (Randy Quaid) finds out and sends a hit man to get his money back, and the movie plot is about John Cusack trying to avoid getting killed by them.The movie has been pretty much panned by almost every critic to review it, although Roger Ebert praised it enough for three stars. Why are so many people down on this flick?
As a fan of John Cusack, and a fan of FARGO-ish dark caper comedies, this was a perfect combo -- lean, smart, and entertaining. I have no idea why so many people seem to LOATHE this movie.This is easily the best flick Cusack has been in since 2000's HIGH FIDELITY and the wait was painful. His character is a bit of a throwback to his role in THE GRIFTERS, but with a hint of additional warmth.Admittedly, this movie was marketed all wrong. Advertising this Coen-brothers-like neo-noir as being from "The director of GROUNDHOG DAY and CADDYSHACK" is like advertising MUNICH as being from "The director of 1941 and JAWS." Sure, it's true, but it gives people the wrong expectation.I say, give it a shot.

If you're dreaming of a black Christmas try putting this DVD in your player for a few hours of entertainment. But be forewarned: it won't be for everyone. If you're a fan of John Cusack (specifically if you really, really, really loved GROSSE POINTE BLANK) then you'll probably enjoy the dark comedy flooding this film.Harold Ramis steps outside his normal feel-good comedies (ANALYZE THIS, etc.) and jumps headlong onto the dark side. yeah, it is not the greatest thriller i have ever seen - but it does a respectable job of keeping the viewer engrossed.the plot is not as confusing as it is made out to be - pretty straight forward imo - except for some complexity as to who is involved in the drug deal setup - but that's only a side plot which does not have too much of a bearing on the main plot.snipes has not lost it yet and is still the cool action cat, his latino partner shows potential and will shine brighter in the movies to come and cybil sheperd in a memorable role as a psychotic torturer.and mario van peebles has an eye for color - striking sets, scenes and photography.

Okay but passable
The story itself is weak and in parts, it does come together. While watching I thought it is just a copy of "pulp fiction" complete with psycho.The acting is okay. Snipes is about the best and at least his character has some character.The filming is good.If you have an hour or two to kill it is okay.

Another good'un from Wesley & Others
I must admit any time I see a Wesley Snipes movie on DVD I am a buyer, simply because the guy has great screen presence (I still see him as the best black actor in the general Clint Eastwood/Bruce Willis type roles zone) and usually (with admittedly a few notable exceptions) he avoids appearing in too many turkeys!Snipes as usual does not disappoint in this 2006 offering, with a well balanced acting role of "Lucky", a gangster ("hell I probably killed more blacks than the Klu Klux Klan!") trying to go straight despite life's hardships, as shown in an amazing opening sequence using the New Orleans floods as a backdrop, with overall the right balance between acting and action (think the earlier "The Art of War").This film also has several additional features to recommend it, being:The reuniting with Mario van Peebles from "New Jack City" who in the director seat, co writer and pushy "good" cop acting roles creates a neat follow on movie with...

Baker battles corruption yet again in this worthy follow-up to Walking Tall. All the elements for a classic 70's redneck revenge picture are here: corrupt cops, sicko henchmen, unlikely allies (including Gabe Dell and Brock Peters) and a long-suffering faithful girlfriend (Connie Van Dyke). Joe Don plays Lewis, a bar-owner and gambler who (wait for it) gets framed and is sent to the big house. Befriended by a mobster (John Marley!), Lewis gets enough info and ammo to go after those who took almost everything from him. The violence is brutal and the revenge is quite sweet. This looks to be Karlson's last movie; if you've seen some of his earlier noirish epics (like Kansas City Confidential and Phenix City Story), you'll know what to expect. This is a GREAT unsung little film.

"Framed" (1975) was legendary film noir director Phil Karlson's first film after the gargantuan success of his 1973 biopic of Tennessee Sheriff Buford Pusser, "Walking Tall." In "Framed", Karlson continues the theme of revenge which has dominated his body of work since the early 1950's. Good Stuff!
I purchased this unit with my Pioneer AVIC-N4 and it seems to do the job pretty well. The flashing red/yellow/green lines on congested roadways is very helpful. The first time I used it, I was driving and noticed that the route I was going to take (across the East River) was blinking red. I looked across the river and saw a severe traffic jam.Coming home from that same trip, it alerted me that traffic was slow ahead and asked to reroute. I said yes, and it diverted me onto a highway I didn't even know existed and cut my travel time down an hour or so.The only think I don't like about it that it's an extra charge with XM and some of the information is dated (ie. road closures that I knew were no longer closed, but listed on the screen).Overall, if you own a pioneer navigation system - you might as well get it. It's worth it.

navTraffic is worth it!
I have this unit, with a Pioneer AVIC-D2 headunit. I use it for both XM and NavTraffic. I have to admit that NavTraffic's incident report isn't always very up to date, and I really wish they would write WHEN the event occured. Now it just says "Accident, next quarter hour" but come back in 30 minutes and you still have the exact same message up on the screen. However, it is much better with the highway information. And also if highway traffic is slow, and you have a router programmed, the unit will ask if you wish to go around the traffic jam. Sometimes the alternative is worse, because the unit doesn't know "speeds" off the highway, so if you choose to avoid, you may get in a worse traffic jam.As far as the XM, reception is good, some channels at times sound like a 56kbps mp3, but most of the time it's good. Also, it sometimes doesn't get artist and song title information. I'm not sure if this is the unit's fault or xm's.I would definitly buy this unit again,...
