A Season of Development
Season 6 is, to me, fundamentally different from all other seasons of HIMYM thus far. As with all seasons, Ted has his lady interest, in this case Zoey, who is a polar opposite of Ted yet ingratiates herself briefly into the gang's social group. Zoey is a radical protestor who, it turns out, has set her sights on protesting the destruction of the Arcadian, a building which is being destroyed to allow for the construction of a new Goliath National Bank HQ, which, ironically, Ted has been chosen to design. Nonetheless, Ted is his usual self, falling in love without heeding the potential consequences. Clearly, this provides for interesting tension over the course of the season as the two battle their feelings for each other. Oh. Did I forget to mention? Zoey's married. This season contains heartbreak and fundamental events in the lives of some of the characters. Marshall is plagued by a loss even as he attempts to conceive with Lilly. Robin attempts to get over a brutal...

The more things change, the more things get interesting in this all-new hilarious season of How I Met Your Mother. Ted’s (Josh Radnor) search for “the one” continues while Marshall and Lily (Jason Segel and Alyson Hannigan) hope to become parents, Barney (Neil Patrick Harris) makes an uproariously awkward attempt to find his real father, and Robin (Cobie Smulders) finally feels like a true New Yorker. Featuring epic guest stars like Katy Perry and Jorge Garcia as “The Blitz,” Season Six is filled with just plain awesomeness. Top to learn more

The Season That Tried To Get Mature
How I Met Your Mother is a great show. Let's get that out of the way first. It has excellent character development, clever humor and an original way of telling its story. With that in mind, I thought Season 6 was the first of the show in which maybe the writers were a little misguided and a little short on ideas. I'll start with the positives:(Will contain spoilers if you haven't seen all of Season 6)If you're considering purchasing this season, I'll give you five episodes that absolutely make it worth it:"Big Days" (episode 6.01)"Subway Wars" (episode 6.04)"Blitzgiving" (episode 6.10)"Legendaddy" (episode 6.19)"Hopeless" (episode 6.21)It's no coincidence that two of my favorite episodes of the season are the only two episodes John Lithgow played in. His portrayal of Barney Stinson's awkward long lost father is absolute dynamite. I can't rave enough about how well his character was drawn up. It made sense from a real...

If you have been wondering where this show was going....
This season will give you insight. The show grows up a little with this season. There are many twists and turns, and it has been my absolute favorite season of the show. The show was starting to get dull with the same outcome, until mid season 6, and season 7 continues the greatness. It is fresh and taking a direction that is needed to keep the show going for another season or two.

Amazing!
This is Such a good show, makes me laugh every time! I always enjoy watching episodes, even ones I've already seen. They never seem to get old and I love that about HIMYM.

HIMYM
The year is 2030, and you are listening to you father tell you the story of how he met your mother. Over a span of seven seasons with an average of 22 episodes a season, your father retells stories of sitting around the bar with his best friends, describes his various relationships with what seems like hundreds of girls who rarely stick around for long. As soon as you think he's finally at the end of his story, it turns out it's just "some girl" and not the conclusion of the TV series. But viewers are content with that. The longer it takes Josh Radnor to find his character's wife in How I Met Your Mother, the more television fans get to watch. What began as a show loosely based off of the producers' experiences in New York City (Carter Bays and Craig Thomas originally wanted to write a sitcom about "our friends and the stupid stuff we did in New York") quickly became a successful show receiving high ratings and winning five Emmy awards and a nomination for "Outstanding Comedy...

Suit Up! Time to join Ted, Barney, and the crew for a great first season
Told in a sort of flashback format, How I Met Your Mother follows the story of Ted (Josh Radner) and his group of friends, Marshall (Jason Segel), Lily (Alison Hannigan) and the ever hip Barney (Neil Patrick Harris). Ted is searching for romance in New York City when he falls for the lovely Robin (Cobie Smulders), who isn't quite ready for a big relationship, despite a strong attraction. Over the course of the first season, we follow Ted and company through many a hilarious night, including Barney and Marshall's karaoke binge with Korean Elvis, Ted's meeting a mysterious woman at a wedding who he subsequently falls for, and a hysterical look at Barney in his pre-suit era thanks to the arrival of a mystery tape from an old paramour. The writing is sharp and fast paced, told in a multiple vignette style that Seinfeld perfected. Of course a hit show wouldn't work without a solid cast, and this one is excellent. Radner has the right blend of earnestness and puppy dog charm as...

A love story in reverse
How I Met Your Mother is a Friends-like comedy about five twentysomethings (Lily, Marshall, Ted, Robin, and Barney) in New York. Lily, a kindergarten teacher, and Marshall, an aspiring attorney, have been together for the last nine years and in the first episode they become engaged. Ted, an architect and Marshall's roommate and best friend, has been looking at their perfect relationship for the last nine years and decides that it's time for him to find his own someone special. Barney, who wears suits just about everywhere, is Ted's other best friend and the most hilarious character on the show. And finally Robin, a tv news reporter, just joins the group when Ted decides that she might be the one.The story is told from Ted's point of view and the show is basically a love story in reverse. In the year 2030, Ted is telling two teenagers the story of how he met their mother beginning with the escapades he and his friends had in the year 2005. The five of them hang out at...

If the end of Friends left a hole in your life, take a look at How I Met Your Mother. Quirky young urban folk grappling with life and love--check. Charming, good-looking actors who aren't afraid of looking like idiots for the sake of a good joke--check. Crisp, solid writing that sticks comfortably within the sitcom format, but is fresh enough to nudge the show into surprising and inventive moments--check. In fact, the creators of How I Met Your Mother should be embarrassed by how close they hew to the Friends formula--except that they do it so well. Let's face it, Friends didn't invent this territory (tales of twentysomething life), they just refined it. How I Met Your Mother quickly cultivates its own flavor: A little more openly romantic than most sitcoms, willing to let a scene take a quiet or off-kilter turn, trusting that not every viewer has to get every joke.

The hub of the likable cast is Josh Radnor, who keeps Ted (a single guy ready to settle down) from being annoying, despite his neuroses and perfectionism. Cobie Smulders gives Robin (the girl Ted thinks might be the one, but who doesn't want to settle down) enough goofy, tomboyish charm that she feels like a person and not an idealized love interest. Jason Segel (Freaks and Geeks) and Alyson Hannigan (Buffy the Vampire Slayer, American Pie), plays Ted's soon-to-be-married best friends Marshall and Lily with enough lingering doubt in their engaged happiness to keep them from becoming too comfortable. And rounding out the cast is Neil Patrick Harris (Doogie Howser, M.D.), shedding his good-guy image as Barney, a crass, lecherous cad who, nonetheless, comes through for his friends. Episode plots are pretty straightforward (Ted signs up with matchmaking agency; Marshall takes a well-paying job he doesn't like; when Ted gets a girlfriend, Robin realizes she has feelings for him after all; and Lily has second thoughts about getting married), but the show maintains a nice balance of single-episodes stories and a season-long arc--and as you grown attached to the characters, even fairly routine stories are made to feel fresh. This is good comfort television: Smart but not snotty, earnest but not cloying, oddball without being forced or wacky. Check it out. --Bret Fetzer Top to learn more

This show is Legen... wait for it...
DARY.And so is watching it on VoD. The fact that I can watch this on my PC, my Xbox, and my Bluray player absolutely makes it the best way to watch it. (Apparently it has support for mobile devices as well, although I don't believe my Zune is supported)The show itself is fun, witty, and generally entertaining. As far as comedies go, it's probably my favorite on television right now. (Who knew CBS could put out a decent show?) The characters are lovable (sometimes I hate Lily), and the story is engaging. (WHO IS THEIR MOTHER? HOW DID THEY MEET?)One other thing, I just realized you can watch it on the site as well! Amazing. (Why isn't this on Hulu? Probably so people can buy it on Amazon)My ONLY qualm is that the quality of the first few seasons (including this one) are lacking. Obviously that's because of budget concerns on the show's end, so I won't dock a star.Bottom line: this show is amazing, and you should be watching it...

The story goes on...
Kids... I hope you brought your notebooks, because the story of how I met your mother is a lot longer than you might think...You get the feeling with each passing season that Ted Mosby's "story" is not so much about how he met his wife, but a cleverly disguised series of lessons for his adolescent kids as they enter young adulthood. That's not to say his quest for "the one" is actually just a footnote in the story, though. Many of the things Ted learned along the way were directly connected to his search for the elusive Mrs. Mosby. It just so happens that after five seasons, information has leaked regarding the wife's identity, but we've still yet to "meet" her. I know CBS has a good thing going with this show, but I'm wondering how much longer the writers can stall this inevitable meeting without the story becoming completely absurd.**Possible Spoilers in Next Section**For HIMYM fans who are drawn in by Ted Mosby's journey to find his soul mate, Season 5...

How I Met Your Mother excels in tossed-off bits of genius, from a saccharine book-on-tape read by Kenny Rogers to "But, uhm" to bagpipes to harmonizing with Will Shortz and Peter Bogdanovich. These little gems of comic absurdity perfectly complement the sitcom's other great strength, which is clever, twisty storytelling--plots that fold back into themselves, unfold in flashbacks, or cross-reference previous episodes. This narrative inventiveness is hardly surprising, given that the premise of the entire series is that it's being told by the future central character, Ted Mosby, to his two children, gradually revealing how he came to marry their mother.

By the fifth season, this premise is growing a little bit threadbare (particularly after some of the red herrings of the past two seasons), yet the show continues to hold abundant pleasures. The cast--Josh Radnor, Cobie Smulders, Alyson Hannigan, Jason Segel, and Neil Patrick Harris--have an effortless lock on their characters, allowing them to pull off some perilously goofy bits that, in less confident hands, could have foundered (a musical homage to wearing suits, for example). The writing is crisp and driven; this half-hour sitcom crams in more plot turns than your average hour-long drama. The fifth season is not good to start with--the humor is much, much stronger if you've grown to love these characters over the previous four seasons--but for everyone who's been following Ted, Robin, Marshall, Lily, and Barney, it's essential viewing. Some surprising moments of melancholy are completely earned and stand out from the typical sitcom overreaching for "significance"; these moments are successfully rooted in the characters, who become more real every season… yes, even Barney. --Bret Fetzer Top to learn more

The episode seemed largely filler but I felt that there was a lot there necessary to get to the end of the episode which was a big clue if nothing else to give a good reference to the Mother timeline again. Robin was in the flashes even before we knew who Robin was, which while might be notable confusing for some fans we both incredibly funny and true to the fact that Robin was, in many ways, Ted’s dream girl. Finally, it’s way too late in the season to toss in another girl after spending so much time in the last few episodes (see The Broath and Karma ) developing how Barney and Quinn feel.
