Solution to the Adapter Problem
Prior to ordering this item, i read most of the reviews. The common problem seems to be the adapter that comes with this package. It isnt the original Casio adapter, and this seems to cause equipment failure if used. This is what I did and recommended for you to do as well: Rather than getting this package where the keyboard, adapter (generic), and keyboard stand come together, go to the listing on Amazon that just sells the keyboard alone. Then on that same page, it gives you the option to add the adapter and keyboard stand to the purchase. I believe the total then comes out to $129 altogether. This is $10 more than the listing where the give you the package deal with the generic adapter. I personally feel its worth spending an extra $10 to get the original casio adapter rather than using the generic which the casio instruction manual says not to use (or else risk equipment failure). I just purchased it in the way I mentioned above, got in the mail last week, and...

Excellent for the Price
This is a REALLY good value for the price (I paid $128). The headphones took a while to figure out how to use, but the quality of the rest of the set more than makes up for that. I didn't realize when I bought this, but it's a teaching keyboard and has a number of songs programed into it that it will break down and teach you to play. You can also hook it up directly to your computer or radio and download songs onto it that way. Not to mention the volume control. So. Amazing.

Excellent Keyboard for the Price
I was completely satisfied with this purchase in every way. I picked up this item for $99.00 including the AC adapter, jamstand and headphones and got Free Shipping. Everything arrived in 3 days of my online order in excellent condition via FedEx. I am a beginner and learning to read music, this keyboard teaches and reinforces all those skills. It is light and easy to transport. The stand was quick and easy to assemble. Everything was well-packaged, easy to find and remove from the box. I was all set up and ready to play in about 15 min. My church is planning on picking up 4 more at this price for the music program. Highly recommend this item.

Customer Review

I love my Casio
This little keyboard is great, it's compact so I can take it anywhere I want. The sound (to me anyway) is good, very responsive when each key is press. Their are many features as well such as 10 Song Bank,50 Patterns,100 tones, tempo, and great volume control. It even has a small LCD so you can see the notes your hitting. The keyboard does not come with batteries or a AC Adapter,(I brought this in my JR Music store in NY and they told me next month or maybe in the distant future you will be able to purchase one for it. It takes 6 batteries I don't care for an adapter because I use rechargeable batteries and don't want to be stuck in one place when playing. I'm new to pianos and this will be a very good beginner one for me or even kids might love it as well, but an adult can use it if they don't want to carry a big heavy one with them everywhere they go, The back of the keyboard is orange and the front is black so I really like the colors on it and the design. If your new to pianos...

Cool little keyboard!
This keyboard fits into my slightly larger backpack. Its portability allows me to carry it around and work out melodic and harmonic ideas for the songs I write when I'm away from home. The eight-note polyphony is really helpful for chording. A problematic issue exists with the Casio SA-75 power adaptor that is advertised as an optional accessory on the Amazon page that features the keyboard. The adaptor isn't compatible because the jack-end doesn't fit into the 9.5 volt terminal on the back of the keyboard. The manual claims the six batteries required to operate the keyboard will last for about six hours, though. I contacted the seller of the SA-75 adaptor and they told me that the correct adaptor for the SA-76 keyboard won't be available until December 2010. The tones are clear and reasonably distinctive, perhaps slightly less so in the brass. The rhythm patterns cover all the basics, and there's more than enough volume control to play with...

Buy The Right Adapter
The other reviews do a good job covering the size, sound, and features... so I'm skipping those. The overall package is reasonable for the price. The only draw back to this little keyboard is the missing power adapter. It wouldn't be so bad if the description or technical specs provided clear documentation to assist in locating an adapter that would work. Since this information is lacking, I've taken the liberty to do a little research and provide some direction. The hard part identifying a suitable adapter is decoding the adapter specs. While the voltage and amperage are usually easy to decipher, the jack size is almost always a convoluted mess to discern. Companies may or may not employ standard jacks based on voltage. In this case everyone is fortunate Casio employs a standard "L" receiver jack. For more info on jack sizes use RadioShack's Adaptaplug conversion matrix: [...]. Knowing the voltage and jack type makes finding a suitable power adapter easy...

Best Quality for the Price
I really don't think I could have found a better keyboard at the price of the Casio CTK3000. After much research, I decided on this keyboard because of the number of keys and the fact that it came with a stowaway stand, headphones and charger. For me, an adult who is just learning piano, it was essential for me to have headphones so I wasn't disturbing everyone in the house. The keyboard is really easy to use. I didn't even read any of the instructions. I just plugged it in and started practicing. The stand is a little difficult to adjust and it doesn't attach as securely to the stand as I would like it to, but it's not unstable or anything. The keyboard sort of just sits on top of the stand. This is not a problem for an adult, but if you're looking at getting this keyboard for a child, then you may want to take that into account. This keyboard also works great on a regular table, as long as you have one that is at an appropriate height for practicing. I use...

No complaints - a very good one to start out with.
For a complete beginner like me, this package (keyboard + stand + headphones + AC adapter) has been ideal. An experienced friend recommended that I opt for a touch-sensitive keyboard, and it has indeed been the right way to go. You could surely learn on a lesser keyboard that doesn't have the touch response, but it wouldn't sound very good, and you'd want to upgrade pretty quickly. It has quite a number of alternative tones, which I seldom use other than when just goofing around, and a large number of rhythm tracks and some other digital effects that I've not needed either, but they're on there & they work. I've also not experimented with the USB, MP3 or MIDI I/O functions, as mine didn't seem to come with any connectors for those. The irony is, I would think people who need that stuff would probably also get a fancier keyboard, but who knows... This keyboard does have some built in "instruction" functions that are kind of fun and have a very...

The CTK-3000 features a "Step Up Lesson" feature that helps you to do just that. The built-in songs are pre-divided into phrases to help you master keyboard play. Step Up Lesson takes you through practice of the right hand part, left hand part, and both hand parts for each phrase of a song. Master all of the phrases and you master the song.

Music Challenge Keyboard Game
Music Challenge is a game that measures your reaction speed as you press keys in response to on-screen keyboard indicators and fingering guide indications.

Good for Practice and Midi Controlling
I bought this for a friend who needed an inexpensive practice piano, thus Casio came to mind. What surprised me (and somewhat disappointed me, because of the shipping costs) was that 80% of this package's weight is solely devoted to the stand. The stand is supposedly a Stage Stand, even though being a bit flimsy. The keyboard is ready to plug n start playing. The sounds aren't the best, but for the price it serves as a home practice or for classes/schools who need an extra keyboard. There are the general options in which most Casio budget keyboard come with. Reveerb, Touch Response, you can octave shift 1 octave up or down, which is handy for a keyboard this size. The computer hook up I must remind you if you're planning to buy this keyboard; it does not include a USB cable. The Keyboard does get immediately recognized on Windows Vista and ready to be used as a MIDI Controller. Very handy, especially if you have better sample libraries for piano and other...

Great Keyboard!
I think this is a great keyboard. It has a wonderful sound, great features including the Yamaha Educational Suite (Y.E.S.) built in (includes these features: Listen & Learn, Timing, Waiting, Chord Dictionary).I am betting that the other negative reviews of the stand are because it was not put together right. I had mine together wrong for a couple weeks then yesterday took the keyboard off and looked at it and noticed the leg that was farthest from me (behind the other) had the support rest on top with the longer of its two sides coming towards me. This makes sense because that leg is further "away". Then I looked at the other one (the leg crossing closer to me) and it also had the longer side of the top rest coming towards me making the little plastic tab stops not align from side to side. I took out an allen wrench unscrewed the one holding that rest on and then flipped it around so the little tabs on the ends align with the opposite support rest. Now the slot on the...

really nice but a mish mash of things!
The keyboard, stand and headphones are all great but obvious that they are not made for eachother. The stand really does not fit the keyboard. Keyboard just rests on it. There are slots on the board for a stand but the one that came with it does not fit into the slots. It does the job. Basically everything works fine and looks nice. It was a great deal and my kids love it.

wrong stand
The actual keyboard is great...I don't understand why it's being sold with a stand that is clearly not meant for the keyboard. There is no way to make the stand fit in the keyboard grooves where the stand obviously is meant to sit.

great teaching tool for kids
I bought this item to teach my kids how to play the piano. Since we live in a fairly small space, I thought it would be a great alternative to a regular upright piano. I love the touch, much better than the CTk 700 which my kids had before. This one is so much better! I love this piano and I love using it to teach my kids how to play.

Entry level keyboard for children
I'm a piano teacher, specializing in teaching very young beginners. I sympathize with parents who ask me if they really have to invest in a traditional piano for a 5- or 6-year-old who might not really like the instrument after a few lessons. So I am willing to teach on an electronic keyboard, and for several years, I've recommended the CTK-700, which for around $100 at Target or Walmart offered full-size keys and a reasonable "touch". I do warn parents that a beginner will NOT advance as quickly on a keyboard as they do on an acoustic piano, and I encourage parents to find even a terrible upright as soon as possible if their children maintains interest in the instrument. However, remember that traditional pianos require tuning twice yearly, and around $200 moving fee when you buy or sell...if you are the average parent struggling to make ends meet, I can understand the reluctance to make this kind of investment on top of weekly piano lessons. To my...

Where's The AC Adapter?
The keyboard is pretty much what I expected. It's a fun instrument with enough keys for 2-handed playing, and the 400 "voices" and other features provide a lot of varied entertainment. I got this to use in an RV and to take to social gatherings. The sound quality is satisfactory, and is better than some other small keyboards. However, it is not comparable to a real piano, either in touch or sound. My only disappointment is the absence of an AC adapter, which is supposed to be included, according to the product description. I have ordered an adapter and a sustain pedal. The former is cheaper than replacing 6 AA batteries every 4 playing hours, and the latter produces a significant improvement in the sound quality. PS: If you plan to walk into Radio Shack for an adapter, take the keyboard with you. They have many choices, and it would be easy to make a mistake.
