Just what we needed
Got this for my nine year old daughter to start band this year. All snare drum sets on Craigslist were outrageously priced. This set is exactly what she needed and was not a budget buster. Wish it has wheels and it kind of heavy but otherwise it is great.

Best snare side head for me so far
Most of my playing years have been spent using Remo heads. I had to switch over to some Evans snare heads a few years back and noticed a vast improvement in sound, ease of tuning and durability. The Hazy 300 should be no different than the Remo Snare Side Ambassador since they are essentially the same head but I find the 300 produces a fuller slightly darker sound. To me this head seems a little less finicky than the Ambassador with regard to tuning and seems to have added a wider tuning range to a few of my snare drums. All of my snares now use this head and I have been very pleased with the results.

Try this Evans 300 Hazy Snare Side Drum Head
Sweet stuff- look at the evans ec1 reverse dot drum head review i did- same applies to this... can't upload audio file of how my tama snare sounds with these new drum heads on yet but i will keep trying.

Great basic snare
This item arrived promptly and was very well packed. Set up was easy. In the month since we purchased it my son has been on it every day. It's already endured a year's worth of abuse. There's a practice pad (rubber circle) that mounts on top of the drum and muffles the sound. Without it I would be insane by now but it works well. All in all a great basic snare with good sound and well made.

One of the best sounding piccolo snares out there!!
This is an all around quality piccolo snare drum. I play a few different styles of music, and I definitely prefer the pop that this snare gives off. Nicely crafted and manufactured and great snare all around! If you prefer the 'tight' piccolo sound over the deep overtones of your traditional snare, make no mistake, this is one of the best (not to mention reasonably priced)!

great!
I wanted one of these ever since i was 14 (22 now, yeah...) anyways, its awesome!! right out the box how i wanted the top drum head, coated ambassador (it comes this way) i i went straight to placing it from the box to the snare stand, sounds great out of the box, didn't even bother tuning it, its great for the price. im so damn happy.

Crisp, Clean, and Affordable!
I LOVE LOVE LOVE this snare. I've been playing on it for about four years and it never fails to give me that crisp pop I'm really looking for in a quality snare. I've been drumming for 13 years with numerous live acts and I wouldn't think of changing out my snare for another one! This is a great piece of equipment and can usually be found on sale for around $100 if you look hard enough, that's how much I got mine at. Fantastic buy! Gotta love Pearl!

After trying all the different snare drum heads on the marketI find nothing compares to the Evans reverse power dot heads for snare drums. I will use nothing else. These heads make my snare drum sound amazing.Greatest back beat sound I have heard. People are always commenting on how good my snare drum sounds but it's not just the drum (which is a great drum)it's also the reverse power dot head.Even cheap beginner sets come alive and sing w/ Evans heads.I am a believer and I am not the only one.Every pro drummer I know uses Evans and swears by them.They are simply the best.

Nice CRISP response. Has that beautiful sought after 'CRACK' sound!
I've used this head on my Ludwig Acrolite 14" Snare for about 5 years now with exceptional results. The REVERSE POWER dot is on the underside of the head allowing for intricate brush work. Don't be afraid to crank it down to get that "CRACK" sound! Very, very durable head. If you're looking for a more sensitive feel then look elsewhere. This head is very versatile (from gospel, jazz, country, rock etc...). I'm a heavy hitter. This head performs well under extreme tension. Pick up an Evans 300 Hazy and you're set!

One of the best
I first bought one of these heads about 3 years ago when our local shop was out of the Remo Controlled Sound heads. This head and the Hazy 300 caused me to eventually switch all my heads over to Evans. Evans products are top notch and I have been thoroughly impressed with all the various heads I have used from them over the last couple of years.I find that the Evans coating lasts much longer than the Remo coating and their heads seem to stay in tune longer for me. I also find that their snare heads seem to retain a little more give/bounce in them over the Remo heads which to me feel a little more rigid/plastic like.The Power Center head has been my main snare head for most of my snare drums. It makes my 70's Acrolite sound amazing and is working well in a Peal Master Works snare I recently purchased. I'm still using a few Remo Ambassador and Emperor heads on a couple other snares but I'm eventually going to try the Evans equivalent and see if there is any noticeable...
