A life (or should I say nose) saver!
If you have a pet you have to clean up after, and the waste goes in the garbage, you need this product. Our trash can always smelled like something had died in it, and we had a very hard time finding something that could do more than mask the smell temporarily (trash + flowers/lemon = an even more disgusting smell). This product is easy to use: just sprinkle a little bit into the trash can each time you add garbage. It works quickly and actually REMOVES the odor instead of trying to cover it up with another smell. It makes a world of difference.

Great product !!!
This stuff is amazing, one sprinkle and POOF! no more odor!! But it says "Unscented" it is very much a "Scented" product.

Perfect
I have a son and another child on the way and the smell of diapers even in the diaper champ are still a nasty smell. Cover up smells with scents in the can or plug ins in the bathroom really just give me a headache from the perfume smell- plus my husband hates all that sweet smelling stuff. This product has a mild smell, so I wouldn't say it's odorless. It's similar to a bar of soap smell. Not only has it worked really well so far, but their shipping time was amazing! I am very pleased overall.

Great Experience, Great Product
When we decided to remodel a 2nd floor bathroom, I looked around for options for getting rid of the trash from the demolition. My usual dumpster source recommended that I call Waste Management for the small dumpster I needed as they no longer offered anything smaller than a 10 cubic yard size for around $365. I had seen the ads for the Bagster, so I decided to give it a try.I was a little concerned after reading some of the reviews, but I went ahead and ordered the first bag, which we quickly filled, so I bought a second bag locally at a Menards, and ordered a third bag, which we also filled with old tile, drywall, cement board, and your miscellaneous studs and old flooring. I called for pickup, crossed my fingers, and waited. The driver showed up within two days of the call, and snatched all three of the bags, but before he did he informed me that I could throw a lot more in the bags than I had. )(*& &^%$!. Who knew? Unfortunately, I had thrown out everything I...

Dumpster Attachment Mechanism Could Use Improvement
We bought these to go with the Bruder Mann rear-loading garbage/recycling truck we bought our daughter for Christmas. I don't have any gripe with the price. I expect to pay more for products made by people paid a fair wage who are not located in China (all Bruder toys are manufactured in Germany). What lost this little add-on a couple of stars for me was the annoyance of the dumpster attaching mechanism, which slides off allowing the dumpster to fall to the floor when you pull the lever on the truck to empty the trash. There are other more minor issues with the smaller cans detaching from the truck, but they work more often as one would expect. And I do mind paying money for something where one in four items seems to be generally incompatible with the corresponding truck. However, the kids are still fond of the dumpster and the cans. They apparently make a fantastic place to store ladybugs and beetles, and have made their way out to the sandbox a time or two. So,...

Great cans!
These are really perfect for the kid who is in to garbage collecting. Very durable and great size for young hands. Great toy. Between this and the "Garbage Truck" app on my iphone my son is entertained for hours!

These extra bins are compatible with all the Bruder rear-loading garbage trucks. Side-loading garbage trucks can only use the three smaller bins. Includes three small bins and one large dumpster. Top to learn more

Fun addition bit pricey
If you have a garbage truck from Bruder they hook right up and they are a fun addition. They allow "more stops" and more trash to be loaded. The bigger silver dumpster doesn't work with the side loader ( model 2763) which my son has. It may work with a Bruder rear loader which we do not own. The Silver dumpster is fun though for him to load up. If you look at dumpsters in Germany, they Silver model is something you may see on the streets but not in the US, however it holds trash and if your Son or Daughter likes playing with the trucks, it doesn't mater at all. The tall cans are the same as you may have already received from buying another Bruder truck. Overall they seem a bit pricey for what you get but thats what they cost and there are no others. Not disappointed at all, quality plastic and fun for the kid but you just know they could cost less.

Product Description

“Patrolling the neighborhoods of central Fort Worth, sorting through trash piles, exploring dumpsters, scanning the streets and the gutters for items lost or discarded, I gathered the city's degraded bounty, then returned home to sort and catalogue the take.”
—From the Introduction

In December of 2001 Jeff Ferrell quit his job as tenured professor, moved back to his hometown of Fort Worth, Texas, and, with a place to live but no real income, began an eight-month odyssey of essentially living off of the street. Empire of Scrounge tells the story of this unusual journey into the often illicit worlds of scrounging, recycling, and second-hand living. Existing as a dumpster diver and trash picker, Ferrell adopted a way of life that was both field research and free-form survival. Riding around on his scrounged BMX bicycle, Ferrell investigated the million-dollar mansions, working-class neighborhoods, middle class suburbs, industrial and commercial strips, and the large downtown area, where he found countless discarded treasures, from unopened presents and new clothes to scrap metal and even food.

Richly illustrated throughout, Empire of Scrounge is both a personal journey and a larger tale about the changing values of American society. Perhaps nowhere else do the fault lines of inequality get reflected so clearly than at the curbside trash can, where one person's garbage often becomes another's bounty. Throughout this engaging narrative, full of a colorful cast of characters, from the mansion living suburbanites to the junk haulers themselves, Ferrell makes a persuasive argument about the dangers of over-consumption. With landfills overflowing, today’s highly disposable culture produces more trash than ever before—and yet the urge to consume seems limitless.

In the end, while picking through the city's trash was often dirty and unpleasant work, unearthing other people's discards proved to be unquestionably illuminating. After all, what we throw away says more about us than what we keep.

Found This Book Under a Heap of Trash
Ha! Just kidding, found it under the Christmas tree where my wife placed it, but someday some lucky scrounger will find it(not my copy) in a used bookstore Dumpster and it will smite them upon the pate with the serendipidous force of a Zen koan. It's a philosophical look at a life lived on the margins of society, with great attention paid to the ambiguities of public/private property, the ever changing cultural definition of criminal behavior/thriftiness. I loved the section where the author discussed the flip side of the canard,"Time is money." If you opt out of the commercial world of money and consumerism then the pace of your life slows way down and you become firmly rooted in the here and now. Along the way Ferrell introduces the reader to some very savy scroungers. Listen to Leslie Hemstreet of Chadron Nebraska:"There's nothing that makes you feel a temporary merging of the parallel universes more than being a vegetarian driving...

Interesting read
I found this book rather interesting and a bit depressing. His writing style was very different and honestly had a very difficult time making it through the first two chapters but eased into by the third.Amazing eye opening discussion on waste in America.I have foraged a bit for discarded items and am constantly amazed at the amount of waste that people create. Perfectly good items that are just tossed. Books, clothing, tools, furnishings, etc are tossed on a daily basis, on it's was to a landfill. What's sad is that many Americans are even unwilling to donate these items to a charity because it's just too much effort.

Excellent first-hand experience in the dry consumer wasteland
I discovered this book while I was visiting Fort Worth in December of 2005, after a job had ended and I made my default pilgrimage to see my parents. During those strange days of bright warmth unusual even for Texas, I drove streets and haunts Ferrell describes with piquant accuracy: the sheet metal fences of Rosedale's scrap metal yards, the deep green live oak shade of middle-moneyed Ridglea and Arlington Heights, the gravel alleys and nondescript shacks of urban backyards--one of which hid his illegal recycling operation under pecan trees. While I was in college I lived some of this life, picking up abandoned car batteries and random lumps of metal, dumping rancid soda out of the cans left in the lone recycling barrel I set up at my college, even fishing appliances out of creeks--hauling it all to those same metal yards for respectable pocket money.Ferrell's opening chapters clearly appeal to academic readers, describing the social relationships between waste, the...

Product Description

It's been 10 years since the publication of John Hoffman's cult classic of urban scavenging, The Art and Science of Dumpster Diving. Now the Garbage Guru is back with an advanced course in the unconventional economics of exploring the trash for fun and profit. Just some of the lessons you will learn include: the key secret to dealing with locked dumpsters; how to dive for information and use it to humiliate corporations, politicians and other evil-doers; the unusual profitability of diving for movie and celebrity castoffs; the BIG-bucks potential of industrial diving, including the top 10 most lucrative places to do it; how to sell your dumpster-dived wares through the flea market of the 21st century - eBay; how to parlay dumpster diving consciousness into finding cheap property, supporting radical causes, even landing political office; and much more! Top to learn more

Not as good as his first book but a worthy addition
I bought Hoffman's "Art and Science of Dumpster Diving" years ago and really liked it (as much as you can like a book about profiting from others waste and laziness)so I decided to get this book when it came out. Both books are semi- autobiographical, telling about how Hoffman was raised doing this subject, but this new book goes a lot more into the political and other commentary stuff. I found that you could almost ignore the first six chapters (out of only nine) of the book and still get most of what there is to learn in the book.If you want this book as a companion to the first (the readers testimonials here will either fascinate or sicken you depending on your point of view) buy it, but if you really want to learn how people dumpster dive get the first book.
