Cute, a bit small, but cute
This is a nifty little gift. It was a bit smaller than I expected, both the box and the necklace, but it was really great for the price. The quality is really good, and my sister loves it. It's a great gift for anyone and is of good quality. It seems really durable, though be careful with the box. It's as flimsy as it looks and can break off. But I love it and my sister loves it. Definitely a good buy.

Thorough and Informational
It's obvious that David Chipperfield is indeed a turtle master. This book is thoughtfully written with clear and thorough information. Sometimes when I buy a kindle book I feel a bit ripped off - like the writer doesn't really know his stuff. Not here. This book has everything I need to make a decision about what kind of turtle to buy, how to set up the habitat, how to feed and care for the turtle, and identifying and dealing with any issues the turtle has. It's a complete guide, everything I need in a well-organized and well written format.

A Very Complete and Useful Guide
My granddaughter has been asking for a turtle for a while now, so I bought this book to help with the decision. This useful guide not only covers care and habitat but also types of turtles, and tortoises. It also provides valuable information on types of food, common issues with turtles and how to find a vet.And that's just a quick overview. It is well laid out and the clickable index helps me find exactly what I'm looking for when I go back to check my facts.I intend to get a copy of this book for my granddaughter as well.

Excellent read!
This is not only an excellent reference guide for anyone interested in turtles, but it's a very interesting read. I always wondered why the small turtles I had as a child died - and now I know! The author answers common questions and goes into detailed information about everything you should know before and after getting a turtle. If you want to get rid of pests in your garden, this might be a pet for you!Very nicely formatted with LOTS of pictures. Also included is a list, with pictures, of turtles that are available to purchase with a rating by the author to which are good and those not advised as pets. I would definitely purchase another book by this author.

Aquarium, underwater, turtle and tortoise lover David Chipperfield has listened to the fans who were clamoring for him to add a turtle book to his previously written books on aquariums. Here is his step-by-step compendium so you can go from a complete beginner to a turtle authority in no time

We asked David why people should read this book and he told us:

“There are loads of things you can get wrong when looking after turtles but if you know the tips and tricks you can make your relationship fun, inexpensive and hopefully not one that turns you into an accidental turtle killer (it’s easier than you might think if you don’t understand what not to do).”

If you are looking to get a turtle soon, want to know more about them or would just like some expert tips on what you can do with your current turtle then How to Care For your Pet Turtle Like an Expert could well be the place for you.

Here are a few of the things you will learn when you read How to Care For your Pet Turtle Like an Expert

• How to care for your turtle from hatchling size up
• The aquarium plants that your turtles can eat (You will learn both the common name and scientific name so you can always find them)
• How to supply your little friend with a satisfying and healthy diet
• The different things that are harmful to your pet turtle, from food to some you might not expect
• You will get the common myths about turtles debunked
• How to decide whether a turtle or tortoise is right for you
• The best ways to choose between a turtle and a tortoise
• Indepth information on turtle species including a price guide (David also breaks them down to Cheap / Mid Range/ Expensive so you can see at a glance)
• The lists you will need of turtle ownership laws for Great Britain, Canada, Australia, USA (including links to government websites)
• Detail on turtle parasites and their treatments - or if you should send your pet turtle to the vet
• Recommended turtle breeds for beginners (including the reasons why those specific breeds are recommended)
• List of toxic plants that can harm or kill your pet turtle
• How to prevent your turtle transmitting harmful bacteria to you and your children
• How to select just the right turtle or tortoise
• How to setup an indoor or outdoor home for your turtle or tortoise
• How to maintain a turtle tank easily so that it is great for your turtle without taking up too much of your time
• What other animals are compatible with your turtle and which are not
• How to avoid common turtle ailments and problems and identifying the warning signs that can help save your turtle before it is too late
• Species specifics including: recommended setup, size, cost, experience level, diet and common health problems
• How to understand your turtle’s or tortoise’s special needs

As you can see, this is the true turtle lover’s guide to acquiring, keeping and loving your pet turtle.

The book also includes a special ‘Who’s Who’ of turtles and tortoises—a complete guide to dozens of species, where they’re from, what they’re like, and how they are as pets.

When we asked him for a few final words, David told us to tell you:

“To all those turtle owners (and owner to be’s), I hope you enjoy the hours and hours of fun, laughs, challenges and entertainment that come with owning and loving a pet turtle!”

So, if you are considering a pet turtle or tortoise (or already own one and just want a few extra time (and money) saving tricks) then consider reading How to Care for Your Pet Turtle Like an Expert.

Works fine and looks great!
Its a tiny little cute solar light. Its only less than a foot in length and about 4 inchs in height. Also, each turtle is only about 3x3inch in size. Anyway, the light is yellowish-brownish (due to the carapace color) bright and turns on automatically at night (charging at day). Easy to use, just turn on and put it somewhere outside and enjoy it each night. We put it in the corner of our patio and it enlights the whole corner in a faint but cozy way.

Great Turtles Compilation- Excellent sound!
I got the new "Save the Turtles" collection last weekend. I thought the remastering sounded great! It's hard to believe that all those songs are roughly forty years old! With the remastering they sound like they were just recorded.I remember a Captain Beefheart interview i once read where Beefheart talks about the first time he actually saw a Van Gogh painting up close in an art museum. He told the interviewer that the colors were so vibrant and the paintstrokes so vivid, it looked like Van Gogh had just painted it, went down the hall to go to the bathroom, and then came back to take another look at it. I had the same feeling listening to your songs on "Save the Turtles." It sounded like you'd just recorded them, went down the hall to go to the bathroom, and then came back to have another listen.

The Turtles Greatest Hits - Awesome Music!
An American band from the 60's with an upbeat tempo that even the younger people of today will enjoy. The music from the 1960's is some of the best music ever made! I really like this CD tremendously. The Turtles have an awesome rock n' roll sound that you will love forever. I personally like their sound even better than the Beatles and that is saying a lot!! The music from the Turtles is so positive and enjoyable that you just want to sing along with them. The Turtles keep their upbeat musical style throughout the CD. These songs never grow old and I highly recommend this CD for your collection. If your having a bad day at work, just put this CD on and you will forget all about it!! Take care and enjoy as life is too short!

The Turtles made some of the best pop records of the 1960's.
It was a relatively short but highly successful run. Between 1965 and 1970 a five man group from Los Angeles known as The Turtles produced some of the biggest and brightest pop records of the decade. All told, The Turtles would place a total of 17 singles on Billboards "Hot 100 Singles" chart. Five of these would become Top Ten smashes. In 2009, founding members of The Turtles Mark Volman and Howard Kaylan regained control of their catalogue and decided to release a brand new collection of their hits on their very own label. "Save The Turtles: The Turtles Greatest Hits" offers up 20 of The Turtles biggest hits and best recordings. For Volman and Kaylan this project was quite obviously a labor of love. The Turtles came out of nowhere in the summer of '65 with their debut single "It Ain't Me Babe". The song was written by Bob Dylan who seemed to be all the rage that year and it climbed all the way to #8 on the national charts. Most folks just presumed that The...

My son asked for a real turtle...we got him this and he was happy!
This isn't exactly a "giant" turtle. It fits in the palm of my hand and my hand is pretty small. What this it is though is an awesome way to satisfy a 6-year-old boys desire for a turtle. My son had a turtle listed on his upcoming birthday list. After discussion my husband & I realized 1)We did not want to spend the money for an expensive habitat for a turtle. 2) Neither of us wanted to clean a habitat that did not have a filter. So, we decided to try this.I bought this and gave it to my son. It is so realistic looking that he thought it was real. He's happy. We're happy. My budget didn't take a huge hit. And finally there isn't a real baby turtle in the house that we have to be worried about getting ingested by the dog or having any other harm come to it.Brilliant.

Well made, very detailed... my toddler thought this turtle was real!
This Schleich turtle, like al Schleich figures, is well-made, durable, and incredibly detailed. Wonderful prompt for talking to children about animals-- the feet, shell, face, and features are very clear and realistic. My little one actually thought this turtle was real for the first few hours-- he was trying to feed it!The figure is not, however, "giant." Be warned-- this turtle is toddler sized. It is just big enough to fill my little one's toddler hands. This was perfect for us, but could disappoint those looking for a "giant" toy.Wonderful addition to our Schleich collection.

Product Description

Giant turtles carry large, bony shells on their back that house their head and appendages when danger calls.

The largest animal in its habitat, the giant turtle plays a role similar to the elephant's. In its rigorous search for food, it creates pathways that are used by other animals. Turtles can live in groups or on their own; but either way, these reptiles rest during the day after searching for food in the morning. Although stereotyped to be slow and cautious, turtles are known for being speedy when tempted by a treat, being great swimmers and even reaching too far by standing on their hind legs, falling back on their shell. This would result in death though as they are unable to get back on their feet. Turtles have a great defense against predators and danger as they can tuck themselves into their carapace and wait securely. On average, male giant turtles can be almost four feet long, weighing over five hundred pounds.

Fun Facts: The oldest recorded giant turtle died at the age of 176.

Zoological Name: Geochelone gigantea
Conservation Status:Vulnerable
Primary Habitat:Grassland
Global Home: Oceans

Dan Duncan is the main artist drawing the IDW ongoing series, and while he is doing a great job, i must admit that i was a bit spoiled by Ross Campbell’s portrayal of the Turtles from last week’s Leonardo Micro-series. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles #9 picks up right of last week’s Leonardo Micro-series. Before  neither the turtles no Baxter and Krang reach the room where Splinter is held, something very unexpected and quite surprising changes the course of the story. And while i prefer last week’s Jay Fotas as a colorist, mainly for his dark shades and eerie environment colors, Ronda is still doing a great job.

Firstly, you do not know where these turtles came from, so you may be releasing them into the wrong environment, not only a risk to those turtles, but also a possible threat to the wildlife integrity of the pond you release them in to. The second... As I said, I understand you and would feel just the same in your position, but there is nothing you can do to stop this going on. Even if these turtles are an endangered species, this practice will continue and the fact that these turtles are... So whether it be 10 turtles on his stall now or 10 others he gets to replace those you bought, 10 turtles WILL be slaughtered for food. Unfortunately, saving the lives of turtles at a market by buying them only ensures that the practice will continue. If you believe in God, say a little prayer for these turtles, if you do not believe, you must just accpet that it is a part of human nature to eat the flesh of other animals. Many turtles sold at asian food markets are species native to Asia. So I’d research what species they are first, and only consider it if the turtles are definitely native to your area.

We are so used to being told that mankind is a threat to nature and consequently that nature is a threat to mankind that they could be mistaken for being a warning to man for his hubris for thinking he can control nature. Ostensibly a product, it was in fact a sign, both in a literal sense and the way in which it gave an indication of the culture informing the rest of the work around it. Gero Asmuth ’s sign project could be read as warning signs. Never mind that thousands of allotment owners and gardeners already do this as part of their own informal system, but to address her fundamental belief that – and I quote directly here – “the over-buying of food is a crime against humanity”. If one is going to adopt the language of sin, and say that the wastage of food being a crime, surely the ability of man to support an expanding population is a virtue. Given that any human being who has the ability to over-buy food, does so, this criminalises humankind as a whole. Certainly that is the impression one gets from the cumbersome Heat Rescue Disaster Recovery project by Hikaru Imamura at the Design Academy exhibition. of man sheltering inside the skeleton of a giant turtle after environmental armageddon. On one level it is very specific, the Netherlands, of course lies below sea level. ‘Living inside dead turtles, that’s where. one wonders whether applying the principles of design to these events is in fact a means of trying to validate the profession in a time of doubt. Certainly no-one like to waste money but it does seem strange that there is a language of criminality around consumption.

They tried several angles, but the one that worked was a ban on turtles under 5″ (different lengths in other places) because the young turtles so often carried Salmonella- and that was because they were usually caught in the nice warm,... The Salmonella scare worked, but it is really kind of dumb since only a few turtles, even from sludge ponds, host Salmonella, while paper money is more likely to carry it.
