Bed, Breakfast and You by Maddie James is part of a series of novellas and books called the Ladies of Legend books. There looks to be several authors who contribute to the series and I'm interested in checking more of the books out.Legend is a small town in Tennessee, in the mountains. Suzie, the heroine in this story, is trying to make her way with her bed & breakfast business, and also writes cookbooks and is a professional chef. Her husband ran off with her little sister prior to the story opening and it seems Suzie has this little secret -- a fling from her past. Then her fling shows up riding a Harley, and the fun begins. He wants her back.Suzie is not to be convinced so easily. After all, she has plans of her own (and a little guilt about past fling) and it's not so easy. Besides, the hero Brad, wants to blow up part of Legend mountain to build a new fancy hotel. One that will put her little B&B out of business.Another classic story line from...

This was a cute story. Though I wish it was longer. Maybe Maddie James will do a sequel and give us more with Brad and Susie ...what happens as they restore the historic lodge ...things they find that lend to its history. If you collect Maddie James fiction as I do ...this is must.

I have been a Mary Daheim fan for quite awhile and usually enjoy the adventures of her main character, Judith Flynn. Judith owns a B&B with her husband Joe and has a high-spirited, spunky mother who lives in an in-law suite behind the B&B. Her gal Friday on her adventures is her hot-tempered cousin, Renie, who adds a nice counterpoint to Judith's rather easygoing temperament.All The Pretty Hearses starts off with Joe being arrested for a murder, so one would assume that the action would center around this event. However, most of the book's content is devoted to a string of sub-plots that disorient the reader rather than truly forward the action in a meaningful way. Compared to earlier books in the series, this book seemed to also lack rich descriptions of people and place. Although I found the numerous sub-plots and the confusingly large cast of characters frustrating, I still think that, for those who have read earlier books in the series, this adventure will be worth the...
