Great Book
Meerkats seem to be the animal du jour and they are fascinating creatures.Gravett has written and illustrated a wonderful book about them, both asa nice little story and as a piece of information. I like everything aboutit - the landscapes, the humor, the postcard concept (though I think itwould have been even better if depiction of real stamps had been used, asI am a stamp collector) even the thickness of the paper. It is a realkeeper and Gravett is truly a treasure in children's picture book genre.

There are so many remakes of classic stories and this is one of the better ones. Growing up the jolly postman was one of my favourite books. Meerkat Mail is similar but a little more playful. A cute meerkat decides to go for an adventure and sends home letters to his parents that a fun to read and very sweet. The art work is beautiful as well.

For any child who loves Meerkats
Do you have a meerkat lover in your house? If so, this is definitely a book that your child would enjoy. It has wonderful color photos of meerkats and good information on them as well. My daughter is in third grade and has no problems reading the book, but it would also be good for younger children as it is written in an easy to understand manner. If you are looking for the Disney version of meerkats though, this is not the book for you as this is an educational book about meerkats and how they live, eat, etc.

I got to hold a Meerkat!
I purchased this book after actually visiting Fellow Earthlings Wildlife Center in Morongo Valley, Ca. Pam Bennett-Wallberg, the founder, is the woman pictured in Weaver's book "Meerkats". As a teacher, the book was a great lead-in to our Science unit on animals. The pictures truly do justice to the real life experience of interacting with Meerkats. Great Book, Great Experience!

Illustrating Where's The Meerkat? must have been great fun for Paul Moran, Stevel Wiltshire and Simon Ecob, not to mention very time consuming! This entertaining and educational book can be described as Where's Waldo meets a travel encyclopedia. Each two-page spread features a scene from a famous world destination, with one member of a (very cute) meerkat family hidden somewhere in the incredibly detailed, colorful picture. In a separate text box, written by Jen Wainwright, readers can learn a few important facts about the destination. for the littlest Meerkat Manor fans
My 2.5 year old and I used to watch Meerkat Manor together, so I picked this up when I saw it in a used bookstore. The text is pretty spare and repetitive, but because of this my daughter has memorized a lot of it and "reads" it to herself. The drawings are clear and fun without being cartoony. I would recommend this for your youngest nature lover.
